Pics of my custom finished Ibanez PGM-301

Actually, I did send a link to the pics to PG himself and he replied: "Excellent job! Paul". That's good enough for me.

Pics of my custom finished Ibanez PGM-301

Here are pics of my refinished PGM-301 which I have dubbed "The Jester". I just received it back yesterday and the pictures don't do it justice. It's much more vivid and glossy in person. I've got black (not cosmo) hardware and black pups (TZ, Pro Track and PAF Joe) waiting for it. The colors...

    I would like to share

No, I don't believe that statement is true. No, I take everything I read there with a grain of salt but I do factor reviews from that site into my purchasing decision, along with various other sources. Really? It intrigues me that you feel so confident in assessing my character based upon a...

I don't know. The reviews on Harmony Central contradict your assessment of this item. Let the buyer beware. ;)

    WAH position

Wah pedals generally sound their best when they are placed pre-distortion in the signal chain. When they're placed post distortion, they just sound like lo-fi filters which in some cases is the desired result. I've tried placing wahs both pre and post distortion and except for special effects...

    Speaker simulator

Yes, the Studio preamp has recording outputs but they don't sound that great IMHO. Besides that, there are no varieties of cabinets to choose from. Mesa made the recording outs sound like one particular cab/speaker combination whatever it maybe.

    Speaker simulator

I recorded all the guitars on this tune were recorded direct with a Mesa Studio Preamp and MicroCab I and I was very happy with the tone. Please bear in mind that it was recorded almost 9 years ago on a Tascam 488 cassette 8 track. That's the Spirit Dear Heart.

    Speaker simulator

The differences between the MicroCab I and II are: MicroCab I - AC adaptor MicroCab II - internal power supply MicroCab I - line level input only MicroCab II - line level or speaker level input BUT it does not have a load box built in. In other words you still have to run a speaker cabinet...

    Speaker simulator

A local shop had a used one that I tried out and while it sounded really good, it didn't sound any better than my ADA MicroCabs. For the money, the MicroCabs are amazing if you can find them on eBay. There's been a lot of them on there lately ranging in price from $150 (if you're lucky) to $300...

My Latest and Greatest (ibanez porn)

I love the TZ in the PGM301. It sounds F-A-T. I sure as heck didn't like the PAF Pro that was in the bridge but I knew that going in. I've been using TZs in the bridge position of almost every guitar I've owned since they've come out.

My Latest and Greatest (ibanez porn)

The original PGM, the PGM100, did have a floating trem (Ibanez Edge). The PGM400 had a standard vintage type trem and there are a couple of models (the PGM3 and PGM30 which are only available in some Asian and European markets) that still have trems. Regardless, it's more difficult to find a...

    Blending heads...

I've simulated blending two heads with my Boss GT Pro. It can run 2 different premamps each with its own cabinet, mic and mic position. I've tried it in mono and in stereo. It's very cool. You can get the best of both worlds so to speak. Once my Quad preamp arrives, I will try blending 2 of...

    eq/triaxis help?

Which one you choose is a matter of taste. Most folks like graphic EQs because they are "graphic" - it's very easy to see and understand how you are shaping your tone. However, IMHO, almost all if nto all rackmount graphic EQs that are currently available are overkill because they have far...

    Quad Mod Question...

I looked into that MIDI equipped Quad as well. Once I found out how MIDI was implemented in it (from these fine boards), I was no longer interested in it even thought it would have been pretty easy to get it to work with my Behringer FCB1010 MIDI pedal. Instead, I ended up buying a Quad w/PV...

    Boss GT-Pro

You should double check the manual on the AMP CTL (Amp Control) functions. The GT Pro has (2) mono jacks for switching external devices. These jacks are labeled AMP CTL 1 and AMP CTL 1. I believe you're confusing the CTL 3 and CTL 4 jacks, which are for external damper/sustain type pedals, with...

    First post

I just joined the boards and wanted to say hello to everyone. As of last night, I'm back in the Mesa fold. I purchased a Quad preamp w/PV MIDI Pro switcher off of eBay. For the past 7 months, I've been using either a Boss GT8 or GT Pro as my "amp". I finally realized the other night what was...
