    Older Mark V 90w vs New Mark V 90w

There was definitely a problem with some diodes in the power supply; my amp has a date of 10/31/2013 and experienced this failure (fixed under warranty). I don’t know how prevalent it was, but it was a known issue. As others have mentioned, the transferable warranty is another consideration.

When mine blew a fuse it was a bad rectifier tube

    Mesa Mark V:25 - Fuse - 1A ok?

Would call Mesa if I were you, I doubt there's much (or any) experimenting going on with different rated fuses for anyone to speak up with experience.

    Channel 2 Mark 1 mode

The V2 tube only affects channel 2 so I’d start there for sure....perhaps those settings are just pushing a tired tube over the edge

    6V6 tubes

That’s a rather astute observation that you made, DaveRodda

    6V6 tubes

I too was once curious about this, and saw that same thread, but it seems there's not a lot to definitively say. Ultimately the manual doesn't mention it - and given that the Mark IV manual did mention it, it's probably safe to assume that Mesa doesn't intend for the Mark V to run 6V6 tubes...

    Disconnecting the Reverb Tank

Same thing happened to me, it’s a fairly common issue. As I recall, you can simply disconnect the two RCA jacks from the right side of the chassis (when facing the back of the amp. One is black and the other is white, just make sure to note which is which so you can put them back the same way.

    V1, V3, V5 not lighting up

Hmmm....interesting, thanks for sharing. My amp is dated 10/31/13

    V1, V3, V5 not lighting up

FWIW it was the low voltage rectifier diodes.

    V1, V3, V5 not lighting up

Turned my MKV on this week and about 15 seconds later the power light and footswitch lights went out. Checked the rear of the head and the power/rectifier tubes were lit & not redplating. Smelled a burning electrical smell & noticed a few wisps of smoke coming out from behind the OT so shut...

    Triode/Pentode on 10W Channel 3

My amp is at our rehearsal space but I will check it next week if nobody else does it by then. However, especially in single-ended A operation, I would think there'd be a significant difference between pentode and triode - so it seems probable that what they told you on the phone is correct...

Mark V El34 Tube Red Plated

Mesa updated the owners manual last year to say that EL 34's should be run on variac power.

The next Mark - what would we need?

The manual says fat mode is derived from input 2 on the Mark I...I guess that is where the LoneStar clean also comes from then.

    With or Without Effects Loop?

According to the manual the channel masters are the FX loop return, not the send.

I did notice that when I pulled the chassis to change tubes

Mark V:35 Say WHAT?!?! Short Head and 1x12 combo

I wouldn't worry about ole ryjan.....he's at 2200+ posts and his thoughts on this thread are easily his most sophisticated ever    Give it up, man.....the V:25 is a guitar amp, not a Givenchy handbag. If that confuses you, that's your fault not Mesa's

Don't cry lil guy, it'll all be ok, sorry you got butthurt but just get over it   An "identical" preamp run through a different poweramp is.........different   2208 posts.....of which 2208 could be deleted & no-one would be the wiser

    Mark V Appreciation Page !

I would agree with this.....the videos, manual, etc say all those modes are the "same circuit" but there are no Mark I's with simul-class or class A, the volume/overdrive controls are different on all the previous Mark versions housed in the V. I'm not in the amp design and manufacturing...
