Can it be done? (drive mod content)

Couldnt you just vary the amount of gain with the volume knob on your guitar?

LoneStar Classic Combo vs H&K TriAmp MkII

Since this is "the boogie board" i figure you're gonna get a lot of similar answers to mine. Keep the lonestar, especially one that's dressed as nicely as yours (i have one similar, bubinga/wicker) heh heh

    Differences between 5:50 and LSC?

Thanks for verifying that the LSC can indeed pull off hard rock djw. I was starting to get a little worried. I love the way my LSC sounds, and if there was something wrong with mine which added gain, i would have played it till it blew up. Then been pissed when it came back unable to get hard...

    Differences between 5:50 and LSC?

If you couldn't/can't get hard rock tones out of the LSC without pedals, you didn't have the amp dialed in correctly. Or there was something wrong with the LSC you used. Or there is something wrong with my LSC, because with my LSC i can approach 80's metal tones. Only thing that's lacking...

Tweed Setting on Lonestar fairly lower volume???

What's up shawn, I asked a similar question on another message board, and this is what i was told by an amp tech who post's there. I'll show my question first, and then put quotation marks and bold the tech's answer. Hope this helps ya. Q: I was wondering if one of your more tech oriented...

Question: Which amp stand to buy for LSS and LSC

If that 2 x 12 lone star is hard wood, i dunno that i would feel comfortable with a stand rated at 75lbs. I have a bubinga 2 x12 LSC and it weigh's roughly 94 lbs. Not sure how much less a non hard wood 2x12 weighs. But ya might wanna check before buying that stand.

How is the lonestar if you ad an overdrive

The lone star's drive channel can get pretty heavy. Use the thicker switch. and turn up the effects loop on the back to about 2 or 3 O'clock. Also use the treble to add some gain, once again turn it up to about 2 or 3 O'clock. It's not gonna get ya Nu-metal. But you can get Hard rock, and maybe...

    Mesa Palomino?

That IS interesting. Sounds like the lonestar special might have been spawned from the palomino.

How long before amp modellers replace amps ?

You can put me in the never camp. Clutch71 brought up camera's when discussing the digital thing. I'd like to bring up CD's and vinyl. You'll get no argument from me, that CD's have pretty much replaced vinyl records. But they havent killed them. On paper the cd's are supposed to, and have the...

    Lonestar: Classic vs Special

You're not going to get anywhere near Nu-metal gain from the Lone star classic, without pedal help. That disclaimer out of the way, heh heh. there is plently of gain on tap for up to 80's metal. The trick to getting that much gain with the Lone star is in the effects loop volume knob, and the...

Can a Blown Tube Injure the Head?

I understand where you are coming from Leng. If you aren't to take the amp to a tech at least call Mesa and tell them what happened. You might be right and the pop is nothing to worry about. But it won't hurt to give Mesa a call and see what they have to say about it. They might ask you to test...

Can a Blown Tube Injure the Head?

The impedence match looks good to me Leng. As far as ordering power tubes go for your mesa, your going to have to get ones that fall in the proper specifications. Mesa's have a fixed bias, which can't be adjusted unless you take it to a tech and get the amp modded to allow for bias...

Can a Blown Tube Injure the Head?

I agree with Clutch71. I didn't like the description of that pop either. I look at it this way, if you take it to a good tech and he finds nothing wrong you only lose a bench charge of about $50-$75 or so...in my opinion the peace of mind that $50-$75 would bring is worth it. If on the other...

Can a Blown Tube Injure the Head?

Hah hah hah. ok, now that makes sense, clears things up for me a lot. Based on what information was in your previous post's, sounded to me like there might be a mechanical problem with the amp. But since you can achieve window breaking volume, heh heh sounds like the amp is runing fine. it's...

Can a Blown Tube Injure the Head?

How many OHM's is that cabinet you're using rated for? Is the speaker cable in the correct tap on the transformer in the mesa, for either proper impedence or a safe mismatch? If the head and cabinet are set for proper impedence, or a safe mismatch and you can rule that out as a problem; Then...

    Mesa/Boogie Express 5:25 Clips

Some harsh criticism to Mesa Boogie

Yeah, that might be true about the recordings. But you really can't judge the way an amp sounds based on studio recordings. They do so many things to the tracks, like adding compresion, EQing, doubling the guitar tracks etc etc etc and that's before mastering...where they usually compress the...

Some harsh criticism to Mesa Boogie

That's statement is not completely true, at least not from my experience. I ordered a brand new bubinga and wicker lonestar in february from guitar center over the phone, and had it shipped to me. I never had to set foot in the store at all. It's true that mesa won't ship directly to the...

    Mesa Maverick

It's true the maverick may be overlooked on the boogie board. But over at thegearpage. quite a few people have high praise for the amp. many have called it the poor man's dumble.

Just Played the 10 Watt Class A Lonestar

You're killin' me man.....heh heh I'm about 2 mos in to what i was told was going to be a 3 mo wait for mine to be delivered. But, i'm willing to suffer some more, if you're willing to post more of your thoughts on the amp. So far I like what you're saying about the 10 watt setting.
