    So, I sold my Mesa/Boogies...

Hey Nitro, nice clips! How does the Savage compare to the Powerball or the new Invader? Do you know what the differences are between the 3 amps? Don't know that much about Engl but I am definately interested in finding out.

    2 Channel Recto vs. Trem-o-verb

+1 on that........I run either EMG's or a Dimebucker and I never have my gain past 2:30 or so. The amp is plenty heavy enough on the Red/Modern channel. I can't imagine a regular Dual Rec having much more gain and even if it did I wouldn't utilize it. I play metal and find myself having to back...

    Triple Rec re-tube

It depends on what type of music you play and what kind of tones your after. Check out www.eurotubes.com, www.thetubestore.com, or www.dougstubes.com. Any of those sites will get you going in the right direction and you can email them with specific questions and they will recommend the right...

TREMOVERB making quiet pulsating noise - PLEASE HELP

Turn off the tremolo switch for the orange channel right next to the speed/depth knobs. Make sure they are both in the down position.

    Dougs Tubes Preamp Recommendation

I just got in the set of preamp tubes that I ordered from Dougs Tubes today. I have the Tremoverb head so with his advice I went with a Tung-Sol reissue 12AX7 in V1, a Sovtek 12AX7LPS in V2, and Shuguang C9's in V3, V4, V5, & V6. All I can say is WOW!! What a difference that made. Tons of bite...

The Heavier End of the Mesa Tonal Spectrum!

That's the tone I go for. I have one guitar with the EMG Zakk Wylde set - 81/85 and the other with a Dimebucker. I find the 81 to be a little mid-heavy but IMO these amps are more mid scooped then most other amps anyway and I usually find myself adding more mids rather than dialing them out. My...

A couple of live recordings from band practice

Good job man, sounds killer! Hard to record like that but the songs sound good. I also like the 2nd one.

    Input on these tubes...

Anyone running a quad of JJ E34L's in their Dual Recto? I was just curious to see how they effect the tone vs. the 6L6's. I'm currently running a quad of Groove Tube 6l6 GE's.

Reverb and delay pedals with my recto...

Man, I bought a Build Your Own Clone analog chorus kit that I throw in the loop of my clean channel and it sounds killer! I have reverb on my Tremoverb and would rather run the chorus, it sounds better.

Tung Sol Vs JJ Pre Amp tubes

I just ordered a new set of preamp tubes from Doug at www.dougstubes.com. I went with a Tung Sol 12AX7 in V1, a Sovtek 12AX7LPS in V2, and then Chinese the rest of the way. I'll let ya'll know how it sounds after I get em in.

    Stumped (no sustain)

Sweet dude.....glad that worked out and it is a very easy fix. I've had that problem before with guitars I bought that weren't setup properly. I've paid techs to set mine up and then I get them home and have to tweak things so I've started doing it all myself. I was a little leary on the truss...

    Stumped (no sustain)

I know you have an expensive guitar but make sure you don't have any fret buzz cause it will cut back on your sustain. The higher the action, the better the sustain because the strings are free to vibrate without anything stopping them. You'll have to find that happy medium so you can get the...

    I'm Hating My Triple Rectifier

+1 on that......I am using almost those same settings on my 2 channel Dual Rec. I run mine as follows: Channel volume: 9:00 Bass: Noon Mids: 11:00 Treble 1:00 Prescence: 11:00 Gain: 2:00 - 2:30 Variac: Bold Channel: Red Set to Recto Tubes Effects Loop: On I found that mine sounds pretty muddy...

Mark IV + Bogner - New songs from my band

Nice fast riffing and yeah, your playing is very tight. Just my type of music, hard and aggressive. You should boost your leads a bit so they stand out a little more. Other than that it sounds wicked!!
