Lonestar Special - reverb not working

I guess you already checked the reverb tube (the one closest to the power tubes on the side with both transformers).

Is it ok to wiggle tubes when taking them out?

I go from front to back just i tiny bit. What i hate more is putting them back in because it is hard to line the gap up.

LSS owners - Hard Bypass or solo

If you get the chance try a ToneLabe into the front input. If you really want to get different sound and it just sounds like all tube and i dont think the loop is necesary at all. Another cool thing with the ToneLab is the tube really makes a differance, i like using lower powered tube. And...

Distortion: tube vs. Semiconductor - Transformer saturation

I'm not exactly a pro. But i'm getting better, my tone is pretty good though. I have a fender champ also, that is in mint condition...play that less than my LSS...trying to preserve it.

    Help ID tube

I have a box thaty says 12ax7 1991 China NOS. My friend said it was red dragon or gold dragon (he doesnt remember which). It is last tube on right and the top part, i dont know what that part is called, is square as opposed to the normal round type. Not sure if you will see that from image...

    LSS + Recto 2x12 Cab

ohhh absolutely, try alnico blue or gold. i am most like going to use a 2x12 sometime in the future. i have used the c90, v30, celstion blue and gold. i had the blue and v30 from before i bought the amp so of course i had to try them. i was not happy with c90 and isnt it 90 watts? why would...

Distortion: tube vs. Semiconductor - Transformer saturation

I read somewhere that: Actually i think i have that backwards- Tubes generate EVEN ORDER. You can read more about it here: http://www.emusician-digital.com/emusician/sample/?pg=68 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distortion So why are so many distrortion pedals semicondutor? I use...

Les Pauls, Pickups and Mesa Boogies ............

How do you remove the cover? I want to do that with my 57 bridge pickup. The neck is awesome but the bridge i want to remove the cover from it. It has two small beads of solder so i guess you just de-solder it but i dont want to ruin it.

    Jimmy Page Tone w/Lonestar Special

I use close to the same settings as below with some changes, probably due to different pickups. I set up pretty much like this: channel two and vary the gain between 10:00 and 4:00. No drive. Or with Drive use the gain aroud 10:00 and drive at 12:00. In manual it says gain higher than...

    Wah pedals

Thanks for all the info, a few i have not even heard of. I cant decide which one to get and it will be impossible to even try out most of them. But probably couldnt go wrong with any of them. Too bad a few may be out of my price range, for now anyway. When i am ready to buy i will refer to...

    Wah pedals

After having a few different (not so good) wah pedals that i hardly used, a few months ago i got a Dunlop 535Q. It also has an OD option that i dont really use too much however i really like the extra drive i get through my amp even without the OD engaged and pedal is fully depressed. I guess...

    Possible Blown Tube on LSS?

Hi, there is a quote buton on top left of each post, you click the button above the post you want to reference. Rectifier tube: I believe it is a 1950's GE but not 100% sure, i can pull it if you really want to know. I have TAD EL84s which i really like and a few NOS preamp tubes that i had...

    I need more sustain!!!!!!!!

yeah, i dont see why he did not do that already or just hotter pickups like Di?Marzio. My Gibson 57calssics are great but i would not use them with that amp...but what do i know?

    Possible Blown Tube on LSS?

i honestly think the first thin any LSS owner should do is change the rectifier tube to something that wont fail. Then depending on your style change the speaker to whatever you fell like. When my rectifier tube blew it did not smoke at all, i would not have known except for the fact that no...

    I need more sustain!!!!!!!!

I would say to change the pickups first, have you tried a guitar with the right set of DiMarzio's? I think you will find them much different than the Gibson pickups which i think are more blues, rock oriented. I recommend pickups from a JS1200 or JEM . 8)

    Cab for LSS HEad

Your right about two golds being 100W, i thought something was not right when i typed that...he he. Ok, the C90 is fine but to design a cabinet i would at least try an alnico magnet speaker, maybe even the Eminence or another U.S made speaker and of course U.K made Celestion. So to stick with...

    Cab for LSS HEad

I guess it would be easier to demo a vox cab with blues in it, so if you have a chance give the glues or gold Alnicos a test. Right now i (before i build or order my 2x12 cab) i am using an alnico blue in an LSS combo. EVEN though for now i keep it at mostly at 5 watts, the alnico speaker is...

What is a Vintage Black Shadow VS-12 speaker?

I liked the vintage30 in my LSS more than the C90 BUT nothing compares to the Alnico Blue(s).

    Lonestar Special question: Clean headroom

I prefer the hotter (not as hot as JB) pickups in my Ibanez JS than my SG which has 57s or i use my Strat. Be carefull not to get pickups that are too dark sounding which will further deplete your headroom. The Ibanez has DiMarzio PAF Pro neck pu and DiMarzio Fred bridge pu and sounds great...
