Hello all.

I wonder if you guys can help - the reverb on my beloved 2 year old Lonestar Special is no longer working on either Ch1 or Ch2. The problem was intermittent for a while - if I switched the amp to standby and then back on again, the reverb would sometimes start working again but now there's no reverb at all.
I've changed the dreaded 5Y3 but to no avail. Is there anything obvious I've not tried, or is a trip to the amp doctor on the cards?

Many thanks for reading and for any help you can give me.

Chris

I guess you already checked the reverb tube (the one closest to the power tubes on the side with both transformers).

Yes, check the reverb pre-amp tube. The manual will point you to the right tube. Switch it out with a known good 12AX7. I suspect this is the problem. The other thing would be to check the cable to the reverb pan, perhaps it's worked itself loose.

The 5Y3 is only involved in the rectifier circuit and won't affect the reverb.

Gentleman - thank you both very much.
I changed the V4 pre-amp tube, but to no avail, however when I took the reverb tank out, disconnected the leads and reconnected them - the reverb starting working again.
You've saved me a trip to the repair shop plus time and money.
Thanks again and best wishes.
Chris
