TS shunts for 2:90 mode switching?

Yes, you are correct. You can use a 1/4 inch plug wired 'shut' as you say....just closes the circuit. I use one of my Mesa Mark III footswitches, on/off...and that works fine too.

    Show me your rack!

Wow. Some really great rigs here. I've never been a 'RIG GUY'...in fact 'Rigs' have always intimidated me but last year I finally decided to experiment a little. The Axe FX Ultra is what prompted it.....just a relatively simple setup. I also have a Mark III (Blue Stripe) and a Mark IV...

In the market for a used Mark IV, but which Mark IV: A or B?

Here's a stupid question: How can you tell the difference between the A & B?? I mean do you go by serial# or other visual features? I've got a IV but not sure which one it is. I am curious to know. Any help is appreciated.

    TriAxis/2:Ninety: I THINK I ROYALLY F**KED UP!

I hear ya man...I've never been a rack geek and I don't have a clue why I've decided to finally take it on at my advanced age (46) but honestly...It's been FUN so far. I think the KEY to mastering the ULTRA (or any rack gear) is patience and a willingness to spend the time needed to find that...

    2 Ninety vs. 2 Fifty

Yes, These two...the 2:90 and 2:50 sound WAYY different. So I spent a week playing/tweaking, playing/tweaking and playing/tweaking again with the 2:90 powering the Axe FX and was able to get some kickass presets out of it....very useable and still plenty of room to adjust to taste. I switched...

    TriAxis/2:Ninety: I THINK I ROYALLY F**KED UP!

What on earth didn't you like about the ULTRA?? Everything any guitarist could ever want is in the Axe FX ULTRA .....maybe you didn't spend enough time with it? It's the best piece of gear I've ever owned and well worth every penny. I've only scratched the surface of what it's capable of and I...

    2 Ninety vs. 2 Fifty

You know what Scott...this is uncanny. Because I'm new to this whole rack thingy, I bought BOTH an older 2:90 and a newer 2:50. Just so I could compare. The 2:90 is an older one that came with a bunch of mismatched tubes....so I took it into the Mesa store here in LA to get a complete...

my book on building pro guitar rigs is out!

AWESOME!! I'll definitely be getting this....you don't know how long I've waited for a book like this. Rack gear has always intimidated me until recently. I just put together a small rack and this will no doubt help in fine tuning it.

    2 Ninety vs. 2 Fifty

I plan to use at least two of my three Mesa 4x12 halfback cabs. Running stereo of course. The cabs are loaded with 2 Celestion/Black Shadow's (90 watts) on top and 2 EV's in the enclosed bottoms.

    2 Ninety vs. 2 Fifty

Thanks to both of you...this is exactly the type of feedback I was hoping for. My initial idea was to go with the 2:90 and that's what I will do....Anyone got a 2:90 for sale?? :D

New here. Long time Mesa owner currently using a Mark III Blue Stripe and a Mark IV through 3 old skool 1/2 back 4x12's I want to try something different and am building a small rack around an Axe-FX Ultra. Probably answered a million times befiore here but, can you guys clue me in on the...
