    About to jump ship

I used to gig with the 2 channel (50 watt) and was always wishing I had the 4 channel. I would recommend the 4 channel if you need a clean with the maximum amount of headroom or a little variety. You share the clean on the 2 channel with the crunch and I would have preferred to have a separate...

For those hobbiests who play their V at home

Just curious what kind of cabinet were you using before playing with backing tracks? I have the combo and CH3 sounds thin at home on low volumes without using one of my separate cabs. It's a whole different animal through my widebody C90 closed back or V30 Vert 2x12 cab...even on low volume...

    New Dream Theater Album/ tones?

Yep, all Mark V on the finished CD. There is an article in the new issue of Guitar World regarding the album. He also mentions he used an Axe-Fx for all of the demo/scratch tracks. Apparently, Fractal came over and even modeled his Mark V so he could lay down tracks without effort on the demo.

Mesa Mark V Tube Life Expectancy

My rectifier tube was the first to go. I got about 8 months out of it. Unless you want to run everything in 90W SS, I would stock an extra one.

    Favorite 2x12 for Mark V?

My Mark V is the combo with a C90. I also have a widebody front ported with a C90 and a vertical 2x12 recto cabinet with V30. Overall, I prefer the vertical 2x12.

The color combo is similar to the Mark V combo I bought from there <http://www.humbuckermusic.com/mebomav40an1.html>

    About to jump ship

I had the volume loss issue with my JVM and the GT-10 in the 4 cable method. The volume would cut drastically at random intervals. Luckily, in only happen a few times during practices. I had to bypass the loop to finish as well.

    About to jump ship

I went from a JVM 205c combo to a Mark V. The JVM had a much rawer sound. It had some great modes for crunch right out of the box that fit great into a live mix. I was never a fan of the clean channel. The OD channel had too much gain and was too noisy (without a suppressor) for my...
