That's bizarre. Eurotubes sold me a quad of EL34L's for mine, after I checked in twice with them. Is this Bob telling you this? The current draw is marked on the tube boxes, so they must have picked them out for this purpose as they say they do.

You can't really do any harm, but bear in mind, the bias won't be optimized, and you can't adjust it, so you may be disappointed in the tone as a result. I put JJ EL34L's in mine recently, and have been very pleased with the result.

It got more complicated.. I found out yesterday that the cab has an 8ohm speaker in it, not the 16 marked on the outside. So I'm guessing now that it's 2 x 8, that I use 2x 4ohm taps?

early days for me, as I've only had mine for a few weeks, but I'm gravitating towards "Crunch" right now. Maybe because I've always leaned towards the more British side of things. There are some sweet sounds with the gainier side of "tweed" as well mind you.
