    I've owned the mark V combo for a while now, and I had more or less found a use for all 9 of the channels. All except for the Mark I channel. It just didn't sound right for anything. I couldn't find the context, so to speak. No big deal - they can't all be winners, right? 6 great channels...

    I've seen a lot of talk about how different one tube is or another, how the 6l6 is like velvet pancakes and the el34 is like warm courduroy peanut butter, but I have yet to see a video comparison, demonstrating in a scientifically quantifiable manner the difference in tone between these tubes...

    I seem to recall reading something in the manual about the switch not working properly sometimes in variac power. Does the problem persist in full power mode?

    Thanks Brainiac. It took me 521 words to express what you just touched on there, but to recap, I spent the first half of my post expressing my dissatisfaction for the stack, and the second half embroiled in unfettered praise for the Mark V combo.
