I'm having problem with the fx loop, especially in ch.2 I hear a sort of phaser sound when I hook up the Gmajor 2.
If I mute the mfx the sound is still audible (with channel 1 and 3 is much less).
If I turn the master and channel mater all the way down I continue to hear the sound.
I changed...
I use Mark I (Thick ) with gain at 2.30, treble 11, middle 12.30, bass 9, no eq., boss sd-1 for boost, ibanez rg3620z with diMarzio crunch lab.
hope this helps.
ok thanks
in fact i'm more for the closed back, cause I'm more on heavy rock staff. Regarding the speaker here in italy is not possible to change the speaker without extra charge but at the end the speaker is easy to swap.
I have do decide till tomorrow which 1x12 cabinet for my Mark V head.
I need this cabinet for home use only.
Now I'm using an open back cab with V30, but I don't like the harshness of V30.
I would like to have a little more punch and a little less shrill high, so i think the C90 should be ok...
I'm sure some of you has both (Mark V and G-major 2)

Currently i use this
Mark V
SEND LEVEL at 12.00
Master Channel 1/2/3 11.30/1.00/10.00

Hi guys
has anybody succeed in dialing a good Steve Vai tone?
I'm playing with channel 2 Mark I (Thick) + boss DS-1 as booster, but I'm not satisfied.
thanks
Thanks SteveO for the answer.
I was wonder why in pentode the amp is really deadly quiet while in triode I get this hum that doesn't change with the output level but only with the power switch (the noise gate of my g-major 2 doesn't see this noise, I think is generated after the return...
yes , you are right, i don't use any noise gate.
I agree with what you said.
My problem is just to understand if it is normal that I get this hum in channel 3 when i switch from pentode to triode, with the same settings and no guitar plugged in.
Hi All
i'm new to the forum, I just purchased a worderfull Mak V head some days ago.
I have notice an increase in the noise ( a sort of hum) when I'm on channel 3 and select triode in the power section.
Any one else has noticed the same??
thanks for the replays.
