i don't see this as a problem :? can't you just adjust the channel 2 volume? is this issue that it changes depending on your volume level? you're always going to run into cleaner tones being harder to hear, at low volumes. no way around it

the el34's definitely sound a bit more dark. you need to adjust your presence to compensate. i prefer 6l6 in the mark, but the el34's sound amazing, as well.

^^ thats my one issue with this amp.. its incredibly versatile.. but i've never been able to get the 3 channels to work together, and sound right

i'm in a constant struggle with the clean channel of the MKV. it seems like it lacks the midrange to cut through the mix, specifically compared to channel 3.. when I switch from channel 3, to channel 1, it always sounds thin and scooped.

I honestly find the Mark V to be a fairly dark amp.. I mean.. the highs are there.. but it is easily classified as a low-mid voiced amp.. Were you using a lonestar before the mark?? Plug into a marshall and then tell me the MKV is bright! Better yet... plug into a stiletto :lol:

pretty much. the quality is definitely the same, and you can achieve the same sounds, for the most part.. you can find the details you're looking for on the tc site

extreme mode is like a mark iv w/ a bit of a recto sound.. its definitely the 'heaviest' sound you can get from the amp. its a bit more scooped, with more high freq's, and a bit less gain.. it doesn't sound harsh whatsoever with the settings i use on mk2c+ or mkiv
