    Quad preamp value?

Hi, I'm thinking about selling my Quad very soon, and I'm trying to get an idea on what fair value is for it. Since I can't find any others for sale that kind of makes it difficult. Does anyone have any ballpark idea? If it's not worth much I'll probably keep it.

20/20 or 50/50 amp for classic rock tones with a Quad Preamp

Sounds like you are looking for something to gig then.. Definitely try out a 20/20. The difference in weight alone will make you happy you did, and I think it's plenty loud for small gigs. I also think it's very full sounding, not at all like an AC30 to my ear. According to the manual for the...

    Help!!! Mesa 290

Any smoke? Could it just be that you don't normally get the amp that hot and it was cooking off some dust or flux or something? Did you double check that you are running the right impedance so the transformers don't overheat?

20/20 or 50/50 amp for classic rock tones with a Quad Preamp

Oh, one more thought - All the bands you mentioned play Marshall amps. If you aren't getting the sound you want from your Mesa Quad, honestly, it could be that you are expecting it to sound like a Marshall. A power amp isn't going to do much about that. Though to my ear Channel 2 Rhythm 2 is...

20/20 or 50/50 amp for classic rock tones with a Quad Preamp

Honestly, the whole idea of a good power amp is that it isn't supposed to color your tone much so that your preamp stages shine. If you subscribe to that theory, you shouldn't be all that concerned with your power amp (assuming it's high quality) because the bulk of your tone is in that Quad...

    Show me your rack!

You guys who are running multiple preamps with one power amp.. how are you handling that? I've got a Mesa 295 I'd like to run with both a Studio Pre and a Pod XT Pro, but I can't see how to have both live without pulling the cables each time or using some sort of switcher.. and some of you have...

    Preamp questions

Hello all, I recently fell into a great deal on a 1986 Mesa Stereo Simul-class 295 that I'm running into a 2x12 rectifier cabinet I've modded with a Becos plate for stereo. At the moment, I'm using a Line 6 Pod Pro as my preamp which obviously isn't ideal but the tube power amp really smooths...
