What tubes are you guys running in your MESA'S.

All Mesa's for me, except for one 12ax7 the tech had to replace, he put in a 12ax7WC. The other preamps are the originals I believe and the power tubes I bought new.

DC5a Foot Switch and the GEQ Selector

Sorry, I just saw this, I actually traded the amp with the footswitch for an F-100.

    DC-5 tubes

Dropped it off at new tech today. Got to play around with it for a bit, the rhythm channel begins to break up past 1 on the gain and is significantly louder than the lead channel when the channel volumes are set the same. Loud hiss from it and it just doesn't sound "right" to my ears. And the...

    DC-5 Speaker mute question

Yeah, I was thinking "Recording" out, not slave.

    DC-5 Speaker mute question

From what I can see in the manual, you can use that out to a console with the speaker on or off, so I believe that you are correct.

    Combo to head?

 Sorry, the DC-5 combo, I'm pretty sure it's the wide body.

    Combo to head?

Anybody know where I could find plans to build a head box to convert my combo into a head? I think that would be a neat project and easier to carry around.

    Post your DC Rigs

Me too, that was very cool. :D

DC5a Foot Switch and the GEQ Selector

I would love to see this too. I have a 2-button footswitch for the B version (came with my A version amp) and it would be nice to turn it into the A version. It'll change the channel in the front jack but won't do squat in the back.

    DC-5 tubes

Me again, still without my amp. :( From what I can gather, he says there is either a bad solder joint or a cracked trace. Anybody have any suggestions for where such a problem might most likely be hiding? From what I've been told it sounds great when it works but when it stops it just gives a...

    DC-5 tubes

Heh, haven't posted about my DC-5 since it died out in practice two days after my last post here. Amp tech was backed up and didn't get to it until this past week. The Mesa tubes are dead, I think he said he had to replace the screen resistor. When he got it on the scope the sine wave only...

    DC-5 tubes

Eh, nevermind. It just didn't sound like I guess I expected, but today I spent some time with the manual and did some tweaks. That's more what I was expecting now and it may be getting a starting position. Wasn't the amount of gain, it was how I had it set up. Something still isn't right...

    DC-5 tubes

I didn't expect recto territory, but weren't the Marks considered "high" gain? I'll try a recording.

    DC-5 tubes

You know, the more I think about this the more I'm warming up to your idea. I wanted to do the pedal as I'm chicken about messing with the amp myself. But that would leave me with two separate pedals while the mod to bring the EQ to the front would only be one pedal. 'Nother question. How...

    DC-5 tubes

Yeah, basically, but I would much rather modify the pedal than the amp.

    DC-5 tubes

Here's a goofy question since we were looking at schematics. It's an older version of the DC but the person I got it from only had the new version of the 2-button footswitch. It would change the channel used in that jack but won't do anything when I have it plugged into the back for the jack...

    DC-5 tubes

Interesting, let me see if I understand correctly. Both channels are affected by V1, the Rhythm channel also runs through V4 while the Lead runs through V2 and V3. V5 is for the reverb and V6 is the phase inverter. Is that right? That may explain that ecc81 in V4.

    DC-5 tubes

Hi, new to the board and just got my first Mesa, a DC-5. I'm looking over the preamp tubes and I'm hoping to find out what each of the tubes does. Is V1 the one closest to the input jack? Someone previously had put a JJ ECC81 in the fourth socket from the jack, I'm thinking that's probably...
