i know the feeling, i just sold my roadster. i tried to like it but its a 3 channel recto with 1 more channel and a better clean. i could never get used to it. i just like the way a 2 channel recto sounds. now im down to 1 pos 2 channel recto. and 1 awesome 2 channel recto. maybe somebody will...
does the mkv react to the guitars volume knob pretty well?.. i like the way the shiva has the bright attack and still has the bottom end thick sound when he goes to the F chord. its a shame there arent many good vids of the mkv or the lonestar, none that show the dynamics of the amp atleast.
i guess im just gonna have to unload the amp, i have had it looked at 3 times and everybody tells me nothing wrong with it.. most techs dont wanna spend the required time to track down a problem..if its not obvious like something burnt or broke.im gonna cut my losses. thanks for the info.

is there a boogie that can come close to this or am i just gonna have to get a bogner..i like the clarity and the way the amp reacts to the volume knob on the guitar.
well, after turning the amp on and playing it hard i got a steady 24ma from all tubes from the bias tester. nothing changed in that department. the amp just sounds very flat got bass set at 9'oclk anything higher sounds like musy garbage..presence at 10oclk and high at 1'oclk anything higher on...
thanks 94T, that helps a lot. im talking about the same ole 96 recto thats been giving me fits. another tech and still the same response..noting wrong with it.? amp sounds great when first turned on but after about 10/15 min of playing tone sounds harsh and top string sounds fuzzy and mushy as...
i have a 96 recto that was doinmg what u describe as well as volume loss/harsh sound..got a clean bill from a tech, swapped chinese tubes in v3/v4 and problem went away for awhile..went to practice tonight and pushed amp hard, same crap again. im at wits end. i have had amps with intermittent...
i like them in this order
1
3
2
clip one has the most clarity and presence with a little more attack.
clip two was flatter sounding
clip three was darker but had more saturation and some sizzle
so i guess your gonna tell us it was an axe fx now? lol
really curious about the MM difference,it...
the axe fx is prolly the best modeler there is..but i sold mine and still have my 2 channel rectos if that tells u anything. they sound amazing direct but i could never get it to sound like that live through tube or ss power amps. the guy from samhill band gets great live sounds though...
i may use it on the clean channel for a light od crunch. and for channel 2 modern (recto) i want to back off the gain on the amp to about noon and use the boost for a touch of gain and clarity..also for sustain..
i have seen some vids of the sparkle drive used like this and it sounded very...
voodoo labs sparkle drive..or the maxon real tube OD.. i may just get a od808 since more people use those,so there must be a method to the madness so to speak.. i figured the real tube might add noise?
a buddy has a 2 channel recto, that has random loud pops..like once or twice every 20 min.
he has replaced every tube in it twice, along with cables and tried different guitars, but the trouble is still there...??
i tried the maxing the mix knob and all i got was a fuzzy overtone. i agree its not a true serial chain. but to me it sounds better than maxing the knobs.. it just works better with the effects i use.. i could never get a chorus or flange to sound right by turning the mix knobs up. doing the mod...
