Does Simu-class make the MkIV a more musical amp?

I swear by simulclass....but you have to put EL-34's in the outer sockers for it to live up to its potential....

    Is this a Mark Series?

I was under the impression that the SOB was more or less of a bare-bones Mk I, but I could be mistaken......

what pickups for my les paul standard?

I've been told that the Seymour Duncan JB/bridge '59/neck combo works well in Les Paul's, I think I may try that in my Les Paul Classic. The 500T & 496R are just way too hot for my tastes, they don't seem to want to clean up much when I turn the volume on the guitar down...

    Marshall JCM 900 MKIII 2100

I used to own a 2500, which was the 50 watt version of the 2100, through a 1960A cab with the 12T-75's, back when i was playing in this punk rock band many years ago. For what I was using it for, but got the job done. It sounded like Marshall, but not as good as a 2203/2204 or a plexi. The 2...

New proud Mark III owner here!

Congratulatons! The MK III is a great amp, and is capable of getting many different sounds, & is very friendly to different speaker/cabinet. Is your amp a simul-class or a 60/100? If it is a simul-class model, running EL-34's in the outer sockets (along with 6L6's in the inner sockets) really...

Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 60 vs Mesa/Boogie MK III

The weird thing about it is, when I used to own a Marshall (JCM 900 2500)12 years ago, it was more or less because it was the best I could afford at the moment, it didn't really have the tone I was after, but still had a better tone than what I was using before, which was a Crate solid state...

Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 60 vs Mesa/Boogie MK III

I had a chance to play my Les Paul through a friend's Masrshall TSL60 1-12 combo this weekend. Now, I may be biased, but I thought my MkIII runs circles around it as far as the overall tone. It seemed to sound more on the "thin" side and the harmonic structure just wasn't as rich as either of...

Safety concern with running 2 amps in stereo...

I'm thinking about experimenting with running 2 amps in stereo. I'm thinking about splitting my signal with some sort of stereo pedal out of the effects loop in my MKIII and running the other signal into the "return" of my MK IIb's effects loop, bypassing the Mk IIb's preamp section altogether...

ESP Eclipse Guitars.... What do you guys know about them?...

Has Gibson ever tried to sue Hamer? I think it was great when Gibson tried to sue PRS over the Singlecut & lost, that there almost makes me GAS for one of those!:-)

    Mark IIB knobs

Me too, I have a few knobs on my MkIIb that either the chrome part is missing or kinda rusty, I would love to replace them with new ones..

    Mark IIC+ --> DENIED!

Can a 60 watt MkIIb be modded to have the 5-band eq installed as well? I've been contemplating sending mine to Mesa to have them service it, & I may have them install an eq if its possible...

1985 Mesa Catalog for those who want to see it.

That catalog wasvery interesting, it's strange to think of Mesa having such a limited product selection, before the days of the Recto's, Lone Stars's, and the F- Series. The hairstyles are nice too. I remember when I was a kid (I would've only been 12 or 13 years old when this catalog was...

    Artists using/used Mark III's

Didn't David Gilmore use one during the "Momentary Lapse of Reason" & "THe Division Bell" albums/tours?

    Dimarzio Cliplock straps

A good alternative may be to get a regular strap with some Schaller straplocks. I prefer Planet Waves straps myself...

How to mod bias in my simulclass Mark III

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Groove Tubes that are numbered 4, 5, & 6 are within Mesa'a voltage specs. Also, if you order tubes from Eurotubes (http://www.eurotubes.com/), and tell them its for a Boggie, they can ship you tubes that are within the correct voltage specs as well...

    Marshall JVM

The JVM appears to have too many "bells & whistles" for my tastes, but I am intrigued by the new "Vintage Modern" series that Marshall came out with, I can't wait to try out one of those.

    Mark III Tone.....

maybe I should've tried to get a Mk IV, maybe that would've cured my GAS....
