    strat shielding / noise. HELP

Yes, its the main focus of the artical actually. Star grounding is where all the wires that would get soldered onto the back of the pots and to the sleeve of the jack are connected to one location. It reduces ground loop hum.

    strat shielding / noise. HELP

If you do shield your guitar (I highly recomend rewiring it also) it should take you about 3 hrs. Stare grounding will be a biger improvment than just shielding, I recomend both. http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/shield3.php Follow this to the word and your guitar will be very quiet.

Wall voltage messing w/my tone?... request for comments...

If you are haveing a low current problem you will see it in the voltage. I=V/R so if the current is going low the voltage will drop as well.

Wall voltage messing w/my tone?... request for comments...

you are talking about a 2% difference in Voltage, this is so minimal I do not believe it is affecting you headroom to the point you can tell the difference. I do not believe it would make your tone darker if the voltage was up 4 volts or down 2 volts either. If you are dead set on getting...

    Roadking or Roadster

Woot on either of them. I have a Road King 2, The clean channels are what made my mind up on it. I had been looking at the LoanStar for quite a while becuss of the killer tones coming out of it, but the Road King 2 had sooooo much more. As for a Road King 1 you would be missing out on the...

Dual Rectifier and pedal boards... Help

I myself am a pedal guy, I opted for a TC Electronics GMajor for the simplicity and also I run it out of my Recording output to the G Major then to my Peavy Classic 30 on left and a Fender Ultima Chorus on the right . This way I don't screw up my tone in my Road King and I get really cool...

what effect does body wood have on tone?

Their is no such thing as smuggled mahogany. Wood dealers just tell you that so you will pay more for their wood. And wood dealers are a trick of your mind, just becuss you can see them and hear them and look them up dose not mean they realy exist. To realy buy wood you need to purchase my Wood...

what effect does body wood have on tone?

I completely agree. Sound has many variables, each of which contributes to tone and timber. Timber is a combination of Attack, Envelope, Harmonic Resonance and overall Tone. A SA can show you Average Frequency response over a wide band. An analog O-Scope can show you magnitude, Phase Response...

what effect does body wood have on tone?

Actually an SA is the perfect tool to test for tone, the problem lies in the performance, settings of the test equipment and environment. !8&life stated earlier he sued a Sure SM57, this in itself shows he was not only testing the wood of the guitar and the pickup combination but also the room...

what effect does body wood have on tone?

I totally disagree with you on all levels, IMO you can't judge the effects of tone of a guitar with a SA. it is a very one dimensional analysis. Are you checking for average peak Fc, Max Fc, with the same player Playing the same lick, Exactly the same way? I hooked up my rig and did a SA with...

    Question About Guitar Work

Its really not that hard at all if you do understand simple electronics and know how to solder. http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/menu.php This is some very good reading. I highly recommend the shielding and star grounding if you plan on rewiring your guitar to that extent. It should take about...

Pickup Question For a Special Tele

For some reason I have it in my mind that the FRED and Air Norton will sound interesting together in the PRS Selector system. I think the single coil selections should be interesting together. Hopefully I will get a really hollow sound out of 2 or 3 combinations. We shall see though. I also...

what effect does body wood have on tone?

Sorry "guitarmaster" didn't look at your name before. Now I know you know what your talking about. By the way, next time you copy someone else's work at least reference their material and not plagiarize them. I really did think that was a great breakdown of tone wood descriptions. Then I...

what effect does body wood have on tone?

Ok, Percentages are numbers. And when your talking about things, talk about what you know and not make stuff up.

what effect does body wood have on tone?

O piss off, You want to show me wher you got them numbers from. You pulled them out of the air. Context is also something to keep in mind. We where not specifically talking about Active vrs. Passive or solid bodied vrs. acoustic. Active pickups are no different than Passive pickups in the...
