    E34L's in the Dual Rec!

I would take a look into the KT77's as well. Pretty sweet IMO. Here's a clip I recorded recently with it (dual tracked): http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=479890&content=songinfo&songID=6665975

Single rectifier is desesperatly looking for tightness...

Thanks, I usually do have the switch on in vintage channel, still a lot looser then the modern channel though.

Single rectifier is desesperatly looking for tightness...

I have no idea how you guys are getting the vintage mode tigher then the modern.. Isn't the modern suppose to be voiced tighter in general? Everytime I try to play rhythm on vintage it is much much looser and muddier then modern. Maybe it's cause of the KT77s?

    Rectifier Footswitch Problem

that happens to my recto 50 as well, but I actually have a rectoverb switch instead of a recto 50 so that's prob the cause of my problem.. Mine switched then mutes then comes back in like a 1.5 seconds time, very very annoying. I've heard the single rectos is known to have this problem of...

    Single Rectifier Tone test

    Thanks! I'm using Doug's preamp tubes: Tung-Sol 12AX7 High Gain JJ ECC83 Penta 12AX7 Shuguang 12AX7 9th gen Sovtek 12AX7 LPS Powertubes I'm using KT77's.

    Mesa 5881s or other 6L6s in a Single-Recto Solo 50?

Thanks! I got the JJ KT77's from Eurotube and they are EL34 tubes. The El34 tubes makes the recto tighter and gives it more "crunch" compare to the 6l6s (better for palm mutes). The KT77s are kind of like a hybrid, you have the low end of the 6l6s but the tightness and crunch of the EL34s...

    Difference between the rectoverb V.1 & V.2

Hey Clutch, is the no delay in switching applicable to the V2 recto 50s as well?

    Single Rectifier Tone test

Thanks guys! I close mic'd it with my SM58 > Lexicon Lambda > Adobe Audition.

    Adobe Audition

I completely love my adobe audition, I had Cubis but didn't like it that much, Audition feels so much more intuitive to use to me.

    Mesa 5881s or other 6L6s in a Single-Recto Solo 50?

Hey! for metal, I'd go for the KT77's, gives the recto a much tighter feel for metal yet still retains the famous Mesa Girth. Check out a sound clip I recorded with my Single Recto in the thread called "single rectifier tone test" I posted recently.

    Single Rectifier Tone test

Thanks dude! :D I'm getting a lordovchaos modded SD-1 soon, that should help tighten up the part with the picking so it's not all muddy like it is now.

    Single Rectifier Tone test

Hey guys, here's my first stab at recording my Single Rectifer. Using a MXR 10 Band EQ in the loop, no boost. Modern channel on left, Vintage on Right, panned 75%. Raw tracks, no post processing. Sorry for the sloppy playing! Song...

Best metal settings on a Single recto

I'm using Kt77's and Doug's preamp tube set. This tube combo changed my amp around 180' from the stock mesa tubes. Gave it so much more punch, tightness and clarity. I guess I was trying to get more Killswitch type tones with the EQ I posted, but I think "most" (maybe not for tool type prog...

Best metal settings on a Single recto

For metal on the single rec, you gotta get a EQ (booster helps too). I set almost everything at noon on the amp (cept pres at 2) and use my MXR 10 band to adjust the eq from there. Most important thing for that modern metal tightness and punch is to drop your 250hz range and boost your 125hz...

    Framus Cobra pricing

Came across a used Framus Cobra with some discoloration on the face plate for $1,250, is this a good price? Seems like the pricing for these things used are all over, seen 1200 - 1500+. I'm not sure if I'll like it over my single rectifier so just wanted to see if I would be able to easily...

    Delay in footpedal channel switching

hmm.. it must just be the wrong foot switch I have then. I'll try to hunt for a spare recto 50 foot pedal then. Thanks for all the inputs guys!

Schecter vs. Ibanez with active pups??

I have a Schecter C-1 Elite with EMGs 81/85 and I love it!! The clarity in the subtle note changes in chords under heavy distortion is unmatched! There are things passives can't do that actives can and vice versa... to each his own.

    Delay in footpedal channel switching

Thanks for the replies guys! Mine is actually not only a delay.. it has a minor delay, then comes on, then goes off, then comes on. It all happens in about 1.5 second, but very very unusable for live =/.

    Delay in footpedal channel switching

I'm having a really really notable channel switching delay between clean and distorted channel. It's probaly due to the fact that I'm using a Rectoverb foot switch for my Rectfier 50 (came like this when bought used). Will getting the actual rectifer 50 foot switch fix this? or could this be...

Mesa Boogie Triple Rec, Metal and Heavy Metal tones

EQ in loop: cut 250Hz range + boost 125Hz range = mud gone, tighter base. I was in your shoes 2 weeks ago, did that, and it's pretty crazy how much better my recto sounded for tighter more modern metal riffs, TRY IT! Also try El34s and brighter preamp tubes in V1,V2 and phase inverter slots.
