What is this bag inside my F-30?

Just remember, there are no dumb questions, just....umm... I...umm... forget the rest.

    Express Amp Cover

It's not padded like a gig case, still it's more than the other Mesas I've had. I really don't like stuffing stuff in the cab late at night, I'm afraid I'll accidentally damage the speaker, so the outside pocket on the cover is a pretty good idea.

    Express Amp Cover

Anybody notice the new padded cover that comes with the Express? It even has a side pocket for the footswitch pedal. Way to go Mesa! Now... can you send me one like that for my RK?

    Two Mesas This Month!

I had a LSS, it was great (gas caused the RKII), but too heavy for me to be hauled regularly. The only need for a big amp haul for me is once a year, for a big reunion gig. To add to your anguish, you ought to hear the two amps hooked up stereo to a chorus pedal!!

    Two Mesas This Month!

Haven't tried the 4 ohm jack. What does that do to your sound (I'm at work)? I played all night long and at 5w with everything rolled down I didn't get screamed at once-success!

    Two Mesas This Month!

If I had the ability to put clips on, I'd be afraid it'd ruin Mesa.

    Two Mesas This Month!

I went to my local shop to get a smaller combo for dragging around. Last month I got my ordered RKII combo and I love it, but it's somewhat overkill for practice and hauling around. By the time I looked at a Deluxe Reverb, Hot Rod Deluxe, Blues Deluxe (and all the other "Deluxes"), I realized I...

Difference between Chinese and Russian tubes?

I think it's the SPAX7, in the owner's manual it's the V1, the one they say is most comsistent.

What's The Difference Between Roadster & Roadking?

I had a Roadster with 2x12 cab, traded it for a RkII combo. The second channel on Brit with 2 EL 34s makes the RK II for me. From channel one with 2 or 4 6l6s to channel two with 2 EL 34s is two different amps,3 and 4 I'm still working on.

Difference between Chinese and Russian tubes?

Sorry for the lack of response, I got lost. The reason I was asking had to do with the lack of treble and bass on my new RK II. The shop replaced all the preamp tubes with the Soviet "premium" tube, as the Mesa techs told him to try new preamp tubes first. It sounds great now, but I think with...

EL34s and 6L6s in the Road King.

I can't take the test because I'm at dail up at present, but let me say judging from my new RK, the 34s are a lot more edgy. I can tell a difference when I switch between the tubes on a channel, so while speakers and circuits change the sound, so does the tube type.

    RK II Finally Came Home

Last week I was carping about my ordered combo not sounding good compared to the head and cab my nephew bought. After consulting with Mesa, new preamp tubes were installed using all the "special" preamp tube (I can't remember the name). I brought it home and was playing it, sounded pretty good...

Difference between Chinese and Russian tubes?

I've been told that there's a difference is quality and sound between the two (this could explain the difference between my nephew's RK II and mine that I posted about last wk). Anybody A/Bed these preamp tubes?

My RK II combo came in and....

You're probably right on the KISS rule, however once the knobs are set I'm hoping having one amp that sounds like a couple of amps, that would be keeping it simple.

My RK II combo came in and....

 You know what, as I sit here a grieve, I wonder if we overlooked the bold/spongy switch. It's easy to overlook that switch and perfectly describes the sound difference. Wish I'd taken it home, I could check it. :(

My RK II combo came in and....

Okay, that's to be expected. No brightness and no low end has to be another issue then?

My RK II combo came in and....

How did the defective tubes manifest themselves? Not very often you would get the chance to compare the two amps right out of the box, I'm wondering if like guitars, amps can very so greatly in tone? Anybody else had the chance to compare a RK II combo to a head and cab side by side?

My RK II combo came in and....

Thanks for the sympathy (I think  ), there's really no problem with me saying no deal with my shop. It is a bummer to have to wait though. I'm hoping the tube change is all that is needed, if it is indeed a quirk of the combo, I'll order the head and cab.

My RK II combo came in and....

Couldn't be the speaker, we tried the speaker cab that sounded good with the head, other mesa cabs. I wonder which tube would make a lack luster sound? Since the 34s sounded as "dull" as the 6L6's it would seem likely it's a preamp tube? It was bad enough that as I was leaving my salesman was...
