Actually, I just looked up those Groove Tube GEs. Look pretty interesting. I never hear talk about them, though. Kinda pricey. Looks like everyone here likes them. Can anyone describe their tone? What distortion rating should I go for if I'm aiming for that Clutch/Zeppelin sound?

Trying to maximize the tone of my C+ for when it gets back from the shop. I was thinking TAD 6L6GC-STR, Tung-Sol 12ax7s. I have a 2x12 Vertical Mesa Recto cab, with 1 Vin30 and 1 G12H30. (I was thinking about switching these to two MC90 Black Shadows. Any past and present C+ owners please...

Don't base your judgements on a half hour at a music store. You usually have to work with the Mark IVs to get the great tone out of them.

Joey...thanks Can Mike put anything in there other than Mesa tubes? I haven't heard the best things about them thus far. I hear that the Tung-Sol is a very high-gain tube, and that there's a high risk of microphonics with them.

Anyone have good results with a certain brand/model of tubes in the IIc+? For hard/classic rock type sounds.

Do I need a TRS cable for the dual footswitch? I already tried it, just curious for future reference. I tried the reverb again with nothing plugged into the jack, just tweaking the knob. All it does is lower and slightly add overdrive to the signal.

Ok, I just need to find a digicam first. About the footswitch inputs....I have a two button footswitch for REV and EQ, but with one 1/4" output. So I'm a bit confused about there being two jacks on the underside.

Yes, they had these same problems before the fuse blew. I tried radical EQ settings to make sure my ears weren't playing tricks on me, but it isn't working. BTW- there are two 1/4" jacks on the underside of the chassis...what's the difference between the two? I'll try swapping around the plugs...
