MARK I Reissue - Your Favorite Settings

www.soundclick.com/kendove I just put some covers up ... most of them recorded over the past few years (with the fetron). I have about 100 but only put about a dozen up. I need to put some up with the tube mod ... maybe soon See my current rig below

MARK I Reissue - Your Favorite Settings

I have an original '78 boogie. Just for fun my settings are: V1-8 V2-8 Treble- 7 to 8 Bass - 2 Mid (3 or 7) this makes the most difference - 7 is thick Master - between 1 and 2 Presence on back - 3 (this knob makes a big difference) 60 Watt - At home 100 Watt - on stage I love this amp...

Anyone else have one of these

I bought a Washburn Idol WI62 this week off eBay. Pretty cheap $329 delivered. Will need some electronics and I'll replace the pickups. The wood is great mahogany body/neck, figured maple top, two humbuckers. Shaped a bit like a Les Paul but about the thickness of an SG. Compares to a Gibson...

Presentation of the change is on it's way to you email. Shows FETRON to 12AX7 conversion ... and it worked well for me. I have no way to link it here but it would be great to put it out here for others. I know I would have appreciated it when I was scouring the internet for information. If...

    10" speakers for Mark 1 ?

I like the closed back tightness, as well.

Adding reverb to original Mark 1

Interesting Fender reverb unit but not right for me: Online manual says that it's designed to use between guitar and amplifier ONLY WITH THE CLEAN CHANNEL and that it is NOT recommended for use in an EFFECTS LOOP. Right now what I'm doing is: I place a microphone on my 12" EVM speaker and...

    10" speakers for Mark 1 ?

Where can I find information on these Kevin O'Connor detuned cabinets? I'm really surprised that there are not any 2x10 extension cabinets out there. I built the 1x12 cabinet back in the 70's and it looks as good as the original boogie stuff. At the same time, I built a 2x10 version loaded...

Adding reverb to original Mark 1

Even though I successfully replaced the fetron, I think I'd be leary of trying to put a full reverb unit in off the drawing. I'd hate to screw that up. How hard do you think this would be? What about these stand alone reverb units? I don't guess I've ever seen them ... where can I see one...

    Boogie babies

I have a 4-page PowerPoint version of the WITH FETRON that is highlighted with WITHOUT FETRON changes. I'd like to put it on the site ... but not sure how. I'd be happy to email the PowerPoint pix to you if you private message your email address to me. You have to turn up the 1st and 2nd...

    Tube Replacement

Believe it or not ... just changed my original 6L6 power tubes out of a 78 boogie ... 28 years. Actually broke one of the four. I play it 3-5 hours a week on average I bet. What do think about that? Three of 'em are still good. But I replaced with a matched set of groove tubes. No real...

Adding reverb to original Mark 1

When I purchased Mark 1 in the 78, I did not get reverb. In a medium/big room, there is no issue but would like to be able to add reverb in a small room. What's the best way to add reverb? Can the effects loop be used to add reverb after the pre-amp? When I say "effects loop" there is an...

    10" speakers for Mark 1 ?

Anyone had experiences with 10" speakers with the Mark series? I have a 1x12 EV speaker ... would like to combine with a 1x10 or 2x10 spaker combo. Might even consider a 4x10. Tell me about experiences you've had and sources for 10" cabinets that would work well with the Mark series.

    Fetron Fix

I was able to replace a failing FETRON in my V1 slot on a 1978 Boogie 100 watt. It took weeks to investigate this and help on this forum to complete the fix. The fix has worked great ... several months after replacing the fetron with a 12AX7 tube (specifically like the EC883) and some other...

    Other Mark One owners?

I have a 1978 100 watt Mark 1 (well they weren't really Mark I until Mark II came along) and have not had another amp since. Just this year I had to rewire the amp to replace a failing FETRON. This fetron was a discontinued transistor type device that was placed in some of the boogie amps of...

Yep ... took about 30 minutes. But it's easier when you really know what to do.

    77 Boogie 100 Watt

Well it's fixed and it worked great ... with a little help from Boogiebabies on this website. I got a bit of help from Mesa Boogie but if it had not been for cruising on this website ... probably would not have fixed it. It sounds great with an off-the-shelf 12AX7 ... better than before!

    77 Boogie head (with fetron)

Don't get me wrong ... I haven't given up on Mesa Boogie yet. I still have an open request to them ... but it's NOT an old request. I do realize that they are all about making and selling new amps. But since I haven't had any trouble with this amp for 30 years, I have no experience with their...

    77 Boogie 100 Watt

So: - Replace in5303 diodes with 1.5k 1.2 watt resisitors to pins 3&8 (cathodes) of V1 ... I was reading the note as "in addition to" but it very well could mean "instead of". Place them in parallel with the caps. - Replace resistors on pins 1&6 (plates) of V1 with 100k 1/2 watt resistors ...

    77 Boogie 100 Watt

Thanks. I found both of these documents ... both helpful. Actually had a 30 year old paper copy of the first ... it says you can just replace the fetron with 12AX7... it does run but it's just not a good deal. Something is missing in the performance. I got a MK1 & MK2 schematic (both with...
