upgrade road king v1 to v2?

potentially a stupid question as I can't find anything on it so I'm assuming it's not possible but is there a way to do an update from a v1 to v2 road king head? really only would be interested in the preamp channels 1/2 not the other switching and tuner capabilities. but just the preamps.

mark v 25 into external power amp

In theory, and I hope someone has tried this, if you run out of the fx send from the mark v 25 (which is basically its preamp) into an external power amp, say a mark iv, 2:90, whatever, wouldn't you have a more legit channel 2 sound? meaning, let's say in addition to the sweet el84 section for...

FS Mesa Single Rectifier Rectoverb Rect-o-verb 1x12 50w

http://www.mesaboogie.com/support/out-of-production/rect-o-verb.html Great condition nearly mint. Retubed less than year ago barely played. Bought new around 2006 or 2007 just to play at home and I put low hours on it. Few years later I got a recording studio and moved it in there and since...

What's the Best Mic's for recording Guitar Amps?

not saying nothing else is good but it is the safest bet and i think considering there are so many options. dynamics, condensers, ribbons etc. i think with a gun to their head most succesful engineers would use a 57 on a standard rock project. it has been the main mic behind tend of thousands of...

help recording that thick recto sound

the biggest tones comes from the least complicated setups it's about the player and the right engineering. you need to give the amp some juice and it needs to be a decent room. one sm 57 should do fine. the more mics you experiment with the more the chances of phasing which if you don't notice...

New to the forum (and Mesa for that matter)

people make a bigger deal about the pre/post DR thing. yes the sound is different but not THAT different. in essence it is the same sound it is just textured differently and responds differently. a 3ch is just as good, it is also hard to tell. remember: amps have these things called settings...

    Recording high gain guitar

makes a difference. you can hear the air compression and dynamics of a 1x12 as opposed to a 4x12. pantera reinventing the steel was a 1x12 ISO cab and it sounds very very dry and punchy in the midrange. that is a good example of a heavily naturally compressed tone.

    professional recordings: analog vs digital

as long as good outboard gear is used and an engineer that knows what he is doing i think you can get away with getting it to sound close. there is a warmth that physically incapable of being reproduced digitally that tape saturation adds. its just physics. however it was proven that like...

    professional recordings: analog vs digital

it varies. a lot of times things will be tracked to tape then bounced into like a pro tools system to mix. i think while there is still a healthy amount of tape being used to tracks stuff or to bounce back and fourth for the tape compression and saturation it's safe to say there's few if any...

yea i bought it at fye. you just gotta look for it, it looks the same except there is a sticker on the back that says producers edition. to avoid confusion i think there is a link to the sony website where it is available online directly from the bands website. it's a tad more $$$ than in stores...

    Recording high gain guitar

what ylo said is on point. a 4x12 sounds way different than a 1x12. even with just one speaker miked. it doesn't just have to do with that one speaker even if you are using a dynamic right on the grill there are still cabinet, speaker, volume, sound wave, grille cloth, and room considerations...
