How to connect 3x 8 ohms

Thanks ! The 2x12" cab is loaded in parallel with 2x16ohms so series is out. The 5.3 ohms I quoted was the only way to get a safe mismatch from my three cabs. 2 x 8 ohms in series = 16 ohms plugged say in the top 4 ohms output and the third 8 ohms in parallel in the bottom output.

How to connect 3x 8 ohms

You have to excuse me, that aspect has been covered more than once but... I bought 2 single 12" cabs and I have a 2x12" already. All of them 8 ohms. I read the manual of course and could connect all of them if I used a series box for 2 of those and connecting in parallel with the remaining 8...

    Mark V headshell? how much???

I found a reference here http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=36089&p=259587&hilit=head+empty#p259587 Around 300$ for shell + 60$ for reverb tank. It looks that the tank may have different brackets or formfactor to fit.

Spent quality time with Mark V at GC side by side Mark IV

I'm not sure I'm following. Do the recordingout simulates the complex filtering a speaker would do on the signal? I had a peak at the Mark IV schematic and apart from a few components that may behave like some sort of filter (I'm no expert on signat processing) it is the same philosophy as the...

Spent quality time with Mark V at GC side by side Mark IV

What was the recording out on the MarkIV? Because on the V you can use the tuner out to extract the preamp signal silently or you can use the slave output to get the signal after the power stage at the same time you're driving your cab. In both cases you don't have a speaker emulated signal.

Erratic EQ on the footswitch: I think I've found something!

I did exactly like you suggested when I realized my problem was related to the cable/footswitch connector. Thanks! http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=44921&p=324522#p324522

    Screaming fan !

Well! Sorry but I've been barking up the wrong tree. I had the problem fizzy relay going on last night again. I found that wiggling the footswitch cable at the back stopped and thenstarted the relay fizz ! Eureka! I did the what was found out in the EQ problem switching on/off and all is now...

    Screaming fan !

Problem repeated last night! It appears to be the swithcing relay going in frenzy when engaging CH 3. At this point, it's an intermittent problem. I hope it breaks for good otherwise its a pain. I hate these on/off problems. I have a faint memory of someby else on this board experiencing this...

    Screaming fan !

Actually, I'm not really worried about dB ratings it's the reliability which is the important aspect. Mine is definitely going bad and I would like to avoid a total meltdown. I'll search the other threads. Thx.

    Screaming fan !

Ya, we all know how those computer fans start making noise too soon. If that's what they used that would explain the short lifespan. Especially we know that it is warm in there with all that glowing glass. I need that kryptonite bearings fan  !

    Screaming fan !

 I mean the cooling one. When we took a break last night during rehearsal we all heard a wicked sound coming from the back of the amp. Sounded more like a dying air condition unit or something like that. When I realized it was my beloved MkV I panicked and turned it off immediately. When...

    EL34's.....Winged "C's" or JJ's...need advice

Just my two cents. I've used Ruby's EL34 (which are the Shuguang EL34-B) for the last 4 months. No issues, excellent sound. Tame the highs, nice overall tube. I did not know what to expect so I did'nt want to invest much. Got those for 58$ for a matched quad. I had used them in a THD amp for...

mark v, ch.1, clean and FAT a little quiet?

It's almost inexistant in tweed. It's a normal behavior. That's one of the reason I don't use it because I shift between FAT and tweed quite a few times during our sets and I can't be bothered to play at the back of the amp on the fly. So I use a reverb in the loop.

Got a new cab, Port City 212...WOW! (VID!)

OMG its seems that it would be perfect. I need those for my bandmates of course!

mark v, ch.1, clean and FAT a little quiet?

welcome! The hike in volume going to tweed is normal and mentioned somewhere in the ya manual. I always play my channel 1 in a higher power setting than what I use in CH2 and Ch3 to be able to have the volume without distorting in FAT mode.

    master compatible tube list

It's an adaptor made by THD that allows to plugin an EL84 in place of any octal base tubes. About 60$ each. I just notived they now have YellowJacket for 6V6 as well! http://www.shopatron.com/products/category/571.0.1.1.24362.0.0.0.0?pg=1

    G12K100 with the Mark V

Good description Heritage Softail. As you see my sig I used a 2x12" THD cab with CL-80 for the last year with my MkV. I like it a lot especially since I changed to El34. The only problem area was when I did clean chords/notes, they start to breakup and sound like cardboard on low register...

    G12K100 with the Mark V

Wish I could try them all. So many! It's like pickups. Bewildering choices but not so easy to "try before you buy".

    G12K100 with the Mark V

Hum... How would you say the G12H100 compare to the CL-80 other than the power rating?

    G12K100 with the Mark V

I just grabbed dirt cheap a pair of 1x12" CRATE GT112SL with genuine G12K100 Celestion speakers. I wanted to replace my custom Lead 80 with a speaker with a bit more bottom when I saw the ad. They work great! Exactly as advertised. Smooth high end. Overall a bit darker but nothing you can't...
