    SRV tone LSS settings?

Thanks guys - will give the Lonestar State settings a shot. I'm playing with 10s, and the pickups are Custom Shop 69s which aren't as hot as the Texas Specials.

    SRV tone LSS settings?

Anyone have any settings for something in the SRV direction from an LSS?

    LSC 10/50/100 vs LSC 50/100

Mine's an LSS not an LSC, but the extra harmonics with the single ended class A 5 watt (so presumably the same as the LSC's 10 watt) gives a much sweeter and harmonic drive (IMHO).

    Lonestar trick - more gain

You can also try putting a compressor in the loop when you're using channel 2 - the power amp distortion is lovely, and more organic as not always at a fixed level as with diming the master.

    Mark Tremonti's 2x15 Guitar Cabs

Why not go for a bass speaker box? Something like the bass ported closed back Hartke 1 x 15 with the aluminium speaker cone gives plenty of low end but a very crisp sound. I've only used it for clean guitar, but imagine it would sound pretty good for distortion. On the plus side, they're also...

    LSS Speaker Swaps

The Mesa website seems to list the Fillmore as being available. Wonder what the difference might be?

    Unusual LSS bi-amp partner

I've tried two approaches: 1 - ABY pedal (so 2 independent signals from the same guitar - LSS for tone and bass amp for extra headroom and bass) 2 - LSS slave out into bass amp power amp in - so effectively a 480 watt LSS. Don't need to use many of the LSS' power amp watts for this approach, so...

    Unusual LSS bi-amp partner

Just out of interest, I tried bi-amping my LSS with the Ampeg SVT3 Pro bass head and Hartke 15" speaker cabinet with aluminium cone speaker in it (I started out as a bass player). Talk about amazing clean tones - what a combination. I guess that the additional 450 watt clean headroom might...

Lonestar Special - preamp tube replacements

That would be me being a bit thick... You're right - I am actually using the GE in V4. I guess what I'm thinking about is something a little brighter in terms of 12AX7 for the reverb tube than what I'm currently using.

Lonestar Special - preamp tube replacements

I'm using Mullard CV4024. Any advice on good NOS 12AX7 for reverb appreciated. Timbrewolf, are you out there?

Lonestar Special - preamp tube replacements

I'm thinking about going back to a 12AX7 for the reverb - any suggestions?

New LoneStar Special, with a small problem

Try recording the same note onto mp3 or disc, then play it back at volume through your stereo near the amp. If there is a physical resonance going on you'll know it isn't the ciruitry, and hopefully will be able to pinpoint the exact location of the problem.

    Lonestar Special and Zendrive

I didn't like it with the LSS, so sold it on. The amp's own drive sounds more organic and nicer to my ears.

If you had to choose 1 amp, what would it be?????

I'm biased (fixed some might say), but for me it would be the LSS. A lot of tweaking to get the right sound, but once you do... That said, it needs retubing - the stock Mesa tubes don't do it justice IMHO. There are plenty of NOS and new alternatives.

    Clean Boost - Dual Rec

Just got a Barber Launch Pad - can't recommend it enough.

    LSS amp cooking trick

Forgot to explain - I use the Master volumes between the overdrive and clean channels to balance the volumes, with the Solo volume to push up the clean channel to match the overdrive channel volume. So long as the Masters are appropriately matched when the clean boost is being used, there's no...

    LSS amp cooking trick

For even better overdrive/distortion with my LSS, got a Barber Launch Pad (internal 25V 25dB high headroom clean boost) and put it in the effects loop. Great power tube distortion with clear note separation on chords and little if any tone colouration from the existing tone (at any volume too)...

LLS - humbuckers vs single coils

My experience has been single coil for clean and humbucker for overdrive work best.

    LSS + Zendrive

If you want to be able to add the equivalent of a third channel to your LSS with great overdrive and complete string to string clairty for chords, this is the box. Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow.
