Never had the 400 but had the 295 for years,290 and now the 500.Like the 500 the best for me.And its not "wattage" issue..Its the feel that I get with 500 that does it for me..I would imagine the 400 is close to that.I remember seeing Stryper back in the day and saw the guys using quads and five...

My quad is a very early one( one of the first 100). Some of its push/pulls defeat each other on various channels.Talked to Mike B. about it.Said its perfectly normal.He even did a servicing on mine.I can get a really really close mkIIC+ tone on ch1 lead with a strategy 500 for poweramp..Love it!

If theres nothing wrong with it,the quad should sound/feel like youre plugging or playing thru a real amp"head" so to speak.Ive had 3 of them, all different.Tubes would definitely be place to start troubleshooting.

Finally got all the poweramps ive been looking for in one rack, w/ the boogie simul/satellite on top- great for slaving.Preamp/effect side not done yet but close.

Try to find a vintage metal grill cab with no tolex rips,tears, and dings,in this great of condition for the year.Has MC90s,& EVs,stereo jacks,removable trac wheels.No top panel..( ive been hunting for those forever).This has the last version raised logo for this type of cab,plus pre-recto...

I have the product release literature on this somewhere....Its a guitar power amp..I believe it came out after the strategy 500 did, a bit before the 2:90.No doubt a killer poweramp.I coulda bought one once and passed on it...shoulda nabbed it.I sure someone here will have more info on it.

Congrats on the quad! I've owned 2 triaxis and 3 quads.. Sold the tris.All 3 of my quads sound different..I like my earliest version the best..couldn't be happier.

I recently bought one at my local store. Love it. very transparent.Gigged with it on a country/rock/80s show last night.Sounded great thru my fender bandmaster reverb and bogner shiva.I used it along side a Timmy overdrive and bogner red pedal.It worked in really well with those pedals..

really enjoyed the flux drive and throttle box versions! I can see where those 2 will definitely be showin up on some pedalboards.

I'm hoping to demo all 3 sometime in the future... I think they're a great idea( keeping in mind the mk series amps are mid heavy to begin with,so the eq always worked well with those amps)..demoing it on a recto?.rectos seem to be voiced different to begin with( lower mids)...so far a couple...

I have a red stripe mkkIII and a red stripe mk III coli..Ive found that the reg III sounds just fine in every way at lower volumes..And the coli does too,but the coli just has a certain, "special" feel to it, especially like everyone says here, when you push the volume up- lookout!....it"ll slay...

ya..it does sound good..didnt realize there were so many variations of it..So the 60/100 is a totally different beast than the half/full power?...

Not sure whats going on there.check the sample settings in the manual.start from there.

dont forget that what kind of preamp tubes you use will have a prominent effect on how close and realistic you get to that tone too..experiment...lots of variation there.
