ENGL INVADER -The next Mark IV???

I've got an Invader 100 on the way myself. I shall definitely post some thoughts about it when I get it. If you think you want one as your second amp though, and you've played your friend's one, then go for it.

Any body dig the ENGL amplification?

Just like Mesa, Engl have their amps that exceed at rythm, and those that exceed at lead tones. The Invader was definetly more lead orientated, I thought, so it definetly compares with the Mark IV moreso than the Recto. The Fireball/Powerball are more in the Recto ball park. Will the Roadster give me the same sounds as the Roadking?

Basically, I love the tone on Dream Theater's Train Of Thought, and the Live At Budokan DVD. The Road King is what Petrucci's used there, but it is a bit expensive. So I was wondering, is the Roadster going to be able to get the same sounds, or would I really have to go the Road King route?

I've only seen them once myself, at the Download festival in England. They were kickass.

Just got back from my Mesa Dealer talking abotu the Mark IV

Anyone who things the Mark IV can't do metal is mistaken. I won't insult their intelligence, but they seriously don't know how to use the amp. Just listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kk-1TKNnYhc They use Mark IVs, and they're very metal indeed.

    Petrucci on MarkIV/MarkIIC+

Any body dig the ENGL amplification?

Big fan of Engl here. My main amp is a Fireball, which is basically the little brother of the Powerball, as it's only got 2 channels and 60 watts. Suits me though. ;) As far as getting lost in the mix goes, I've heard this a few times, but practical experience leads me to believe otherwise...
