    Speaker swap - Lonestar Cab

Thanks - I've got a cab not a combo so hopefully all I have to do is remove the lower back panel and undo the 4 speaker nuts and lift the speaker off to be replaced by new!!! Can you confirm that it is unnecessary to remove front grill and baffle? Jon

John Mayer Gravity tone using Mesa Boogie LSS and Strat

Ron, I find that those setting give me more than enough drive and sustain most of the time. When I need more I use my Effectrode Tubedrive - in channel 1 I get a fantastic crunch - in channel 2 I get a very thick single note sound which is probably the sort of thing you are after? Best...

John Mayer Gravity tone using Mesa Boogie LSS and Strat

I like my settings here - using only channel 2 with drive engaged - guitar volume on around 7 for clean(ish) and turn up for the sustain and drive (10W setting) - great sound for anything!

    Gratuitous images of my rig!!!

I use the A/B box to switch between Acoustic Signal and Electric Signal from the G50 receiver. A = Acoustic, B = Boogie!!! The radial Acoustic DI has two inputs so I can have two differnt levels for the Martin or the National. I use a Mono to Stereo lead from the A/B box. Tidy set up that works...

who owns a mesa express amp?

Hi, You cannot stop tube rattle - it is a purely mechanical thing within some tubes. I use 2 x Tube Dampers on the 4 x 6L6 and 2 on the rectifier of my LSC (2007) The work really well...

LSC & '69 Custom Shop Pickups

I have just changed from Fender Texas Specials on my '62 re-issue strat to Custom Shop '69's. You would not believe the difference. Amp & guitar now a match made in heaven. 69's have more chime and the LSC really complements the tone - what a difference!!!! :D

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

Ouch!!! Even if our opinions on "the mod" differ, we both have a great amp!!! Enjoy.

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

As I say. Hold the pot between thumb and index finger and turn in a circular motion!!!!!!!!!!!!

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

As I say. All the pots do is let signal though. They DO NOT AFFECT TONE. You can set the pots to any position between zero and full. The different pots just achieve it at different places. If you need a lesson on how to turn pots..............

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

Rubbish. Pots are pots!!!! All they do is let signal through. They may vary in taper (how much you need to turn them) but they allow zero signal or full signal - nothing else - unless we are talking some sort of mythical stardust going on here.

LSC/LSS owners; are you happy with channel2?Want to fix it?

Hi all. I have read this thread with interest. I am however amazed that those of you who "do the mod" are so excited. I agree that the taper on the pots are different but you can get EXACTLY the same results by keeping the Ch2 gain LOW and the master HIGH. I can get my 2007 LSC to sound EXACTLY...

10 watt setting on the Lonestar Classic question

Unless you only play pretty big venues try to hold out for the 10W. I use ch1 on 50 (sometimes 100) for good clean headroom but mostly use ch2 on 10W. At home and rehearsal 50W is too loud on ch2 with a decent drive tone. Great breakuo on ch1 using 10W and tweed setting. The LSC must be "the"...
