I'm on the fence about modding the loop. The main sticking point is that I thought the mod defeats being able to use the foot controller. I actually use the foot controller for channel switching as well as using the solo boost in live situations.

This includes the ones with parallel effects loops? I ask because my MXR 10 band sounds like poo in the effect loop of my Dual Rectifier with parallel loop.

Have you tried using channel 2 vintage while using el34 power tubes? The DR can do a convincing Marshall tone, just depends what Marshall tone you are after.

Do you think there are variances in the loop circuit through the years? I ask because even when have loop disengaged vvia selector switch, I get no signal through rest of amp unless send knob is turned up. I usually leave it at 12 regardless if loop on or off.

Look ar the Radial JX-2X pro Switchbone. Pricey but works well for your application.

I ran into this at a gig once. Turned out somehow the effect loop send was turned all the way down. I had the loop assigned to the footswitch. I didn't matter if the loop was engaged or not, until I turned the loop send up = no volume for the rest of the amp.
