    My Custom Mark V:25.

What a picture! Looks awesome, sir. I see you are from East TN. I lived in Johnson City for 25 years before moving to SC. Small world.

Let us know how you like the Digitech Drop! I've been looking at that one as well...

Anyone tried JJ EL-84's in their V:25 yet?

Yea, man. I've always been a fan of JJ tubes, and was happy to hear when Mesa was moving to JJ's as their stock tube supplier for their preamps. The JJ power tubes just put the finishing touches on this awesome amp to my ears. Give 'em a shot.

Anyone tried JJ EL-84's in their V:25 yet?

The JJ's arrived today. Played for a few minutes with the stock tubes installed before swapping. The JJ's are a little darker which is not a bad thing in this amp since it is so bright and mid-heavy to start with. The bass is tighter, the top end is smoother (glassy, perhaps?), and there is...

Anyone tried JJ EL-84's in their V:25 yet?

I have some on order from Bob at Eurotubes. Interested to hear what you guys think of these tubes in the V:25. I typically like JJ's and I know the preamp tubes are all JJ's from the factory (re-branded and tested). I think I have some tube rattle in my stock EL-84's, but they will be viable...

Never tried it! Maybe I should just for giggles...

Scored DC-5. Why are they so loud?!?!?

As others have said, it is inherent in the amp design, and snipping the resistor that has been mentioned will even out the taper of the volume knob. I've owned two DC-3's and this was the case with both of them. The master volume mod works like a charm, and is super easy to do. There are...

Another New Mark V 25 Owner

Just one power mode on the power switch (ON), but there is a switch for 25w/10w setting per channel.

    Any looper reccomendations

Yea, the ditto rocks. I ended up with a Flashback x4 which has a great looper built-in. The ditto sounds a hair better if I recall, but the x4 comes close.

Mark V: what's underneath the tolex coverings?

Yea, baltic birch is not sought after for its figuring... hence why it is covered up with tolex! It's rather boring in comparison to some of the other hardwoods that make up the hardwood heads/cabs you can order custom from Mesa.

    A red Mark V?

Been there, done that! Sold a Mark V for a AXE Standard... ended up selling the AXE and going back to the V!

Pretty accurate findings you have listed so far. Xtreme is also a volume bump so be careful. So many tones to find in this amp! Enjoy! \m/

    Any looper reccomendations

Like a phrase looper or a true bypass looper to switch FX in/out?

New MK V25 (soon)! New Member

Haha, what an analogy! I have played more since my MV25 arrived than I have in the last year total. It is definitely a sweet amp that inspires me to play. Such tasty tones no matter the settings. Biggest gripe is trying to settle on just one tone! I find that all I really need for FX with...

Getting a few more tones out of the Mark V:25 and Rectoverb

Deciding what tones to settle on is the blessing/curse of these amps! So many awesome tones. It doesn't matter what music I listen to prior to turning the amp on. I am always able to dial in a very similar tone to what I hear in my head at that time. Pretty cool!

PRS SE vs the real thing?

This thread came back around it seems! The first time I posted in here I had a CE, but I do not have that guitar any longer. I've had an SE245 since they first came out back in 2011. I think it's a great guitar! I upgraded the pickups to the USA covered models. That made a HUGE difference...
