The Joy of Running Two Amps at Once

I run my MarkIV with an Engl Fireball. Sounds killer 8) But I have decided to get different speakers for the Fireball though.

Anyone use a strat with a Mk IV?

I tried my housemate's Fender Stratocaster with my MarkIV amp head. It was alright, but I prefer the tone of my ESP ec-400. I didn't use or need a clean boost or overdrive, when using the Strat.

What should I buy Triaxis or MK IV ??

    MarkIV all the way!

More Rectifier-ish - Mark III or IV?

True. The Mark series amps just don't have that inherent cellulite...

I think the MarkIV will suit you perfectly. 8)

Who here DOESN'T use the "Classic V" grapic EQ set

I've also found that reducing the 240Hz can remove any muffledness, both with the MarkIV and other amps.

Q values of the sliders in the graphic EQ?

Does anyone know what the Q value is for each of the EQ frequency sliders on the graphic equaliser?

    Frustrations with Mesa... What next?

To me, loose + no articulation + no definition = Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier. Except for the buzziness. At higher volumes & full power, the Mark series amps (at least MarkIV) get crunchy rather than buzzy. But the Rectifier amps are buzzy at all volumes.

Midrange roar boosted JCM800 tone out of an Engl Fireball

Hi folks. I have an Engl Fireball, and I really like its unique tone. But, I am keen to get some midrange roar Marshall JCM800 tones out of it, somehow. I am not sure how to go about this. What can I do to achieve this with the Fireball? outboard EQs, settings etc.? :?: This video...

Who here DOESN'T use the "Classic V" grapic EQ set

lol! hehe I have the rotary mid control set at 5.5. I also engage the Lead Fat control so the low mids are boosted. Makes the tone really thick and powerful. 8) The Pull Shift on the presence control is also engaged (pulled out). It's just that I found the 240Hz was wrecking the tone I was...

Who here DOESN'T use the "Classic V" grapic EQ set

The "Classic V" seems to be the most popular graphic equaliser setting on the Mark series amps, for heavy high-gain distortion crunch. I actually use a different setting, on my Mesa/Boogie MarkIV. The tone is a lot more aggressive, sharp, and crunchy.

    Pup choice for Mark IV!

The pickups in my guitar are both Seymour Duncans. I have an SH-8 Invader in the bridge, and an SH-2 Jazz in the neck. I split my guitar signal to my Mesa/Boogie MarkIV, and my Engl Fireball.

    The Mark IV thread....!!

Congratulations!! Yes, it is normal to get some slight noise on the lead channel. An ISP Decimator in the loop (and in front) will definitely cure it. Mind you, the noise is far less than most other high gain amps.

    Early Metallica: What Amp(s)?

That modded Marshall amp of James Hetfields, was stolen from him back in late 1983-early 1984, in Boston, Massachusetts. It wasn't bought from him. Anytime you mention the word Marshall to James, anytime, he'll bring that story up. Even in the band commentary for the film SKOM.

the cost of a mesa in australia

Oz_Mike got it pretty much right. A lot of the cost is because of the very high import taxes. In Queensland, I remember at a guitar shop one bloke was talking to the store owner about his Dual Rectifier. They were so amazed about it, you'd think the bloke had a Dumble Steel String Singer...
