Sorry, it's a confusing setup. I have two 4x12 cabs, and want to run them w/d/d/w, as if each vertical pair of speakers is a 2x12 cab. Ideally I want to run each pair at 8 ohms.

The MarkIV has three speaker outputs- one 8 ohm mono output, and two 4 ohm outputs, wired in parallel. I believe that means that each "4 ohm" socket connects to an 8 ohm load (cab). My Stiletto cab appears to have the same type of speaker inputs- one 8 ohm, and two "4 ohm" inputs. Does this...

Sounds like a chorus effect, set with a slow rate and large width. Sounds bell-like.

It doesn't work better in my effects loop, and I use amp distortion. Lots of amp distortion. The chorus sounds a lot better when in front of the amp.

I run a pair of Mesa/Boogie str440 6L6 poweramp valves, and a pair of Svetlana EL34 poweramp valves, Simul-Class, mid-gain. Sounds fantastic. 8)

A lot of James Hetfield's guitar tone on Turn the Page & Astronomy from that album, is a Wizard Modern Classic loaded with E34Ls. Man that tone is HUGE! Of course there's the TriAxis/Recto combo, but the Wizard's articulation and full-bodied hi-fi punch stomps through everything!

Anything AC/DC. Anything Scorpions. Anything old Mercyful Fate.

You won't get 'crunch berries' tone by changing the valves.

I use the in-built graphic EQ in my MarkIV amp head. I also run a Danelectro Fish & Chips graphic EQ pedal in front of the amp, occasionally. I have a rackmount 5-band parametric EQ unit but don't use it much now.
