    Limited Edition JP~2C 1x12 Combo!!!

Too bad it has a C90. EVM12L would have made this a must have for me. It is about time the made it as a combo.

    Potential New JP2C Owner

I never tried a V30 as a single speaker in a small box before. I found most Celestion speakers as a unitary sound source can be well, not all that great. the Redback held up at 100W pushing gig level volumes. EV is the king as a single speaker or in a quad. Too bad they do not have 16 ohm...

You are the OP right? Dive into the amp and tell us how you feel about it.

    Potential New JP2C Owner

I assume that is the case. They did that back in 2016. All controls zeroed out, sliders all the way down. Mark VII was shipped the same way but that does not have a speaker off switch.

    Potential New JP2C Owner

I did the same thing. No sound, like WTF? Oh, it has a speaker off switch. :ROFLMAO: Good to know you got a working one this time. (y)

Mark V and VII - high gain mode gain stage questions

I get it. Why change if things sound good? I have rolled in a few 12AX7 in the one Mark VII out of curiosity. Tried the JJ E83CC tubes (frame grid type), those actually sounded better than the stocker Mesa branded JJ ECC83s. More notably in the noise floor, the E83CC were almost dead...

New (to me) Fillmore 25 - Question & possible PSA

If that is the case then I would agree. Mesa does not always come forth with what may be different. Sure the tubes are different. Then again, I did try the CT through a C90 and never expected the amp to sound like an ice pick. No way would I settle for that. They are sonically different...

using 2 8 ohm cabs with my Mark IV question

I would send customer service an email and ask if the Mark IV can support a 16 ohm cab in the 8 ohm jack while an 8 ohm cab is in the 4 ohm jack similar to the "safe miss-match" diagrams used in the Mark V manual. See what they say about that. They may just direct you to the FAQ section. I...

Mark V and VII - high gain mode gain stage questions

If you lost 2 hours of time with the Mark VII with the stock tubes, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

using 2 8 ohm cabs with my Mark IV question

oops, my bad, the Mark VII did not have the blend of the 16 and 8. The speaker thing starts at page 53. I captured an image on the safe miss-match. the Mark V only has 8 and 4 ohm jacks. Same with the Mark VII. Wonder why that was omitted. Best to see what is in the Mark IV manual. I did...

using 2 8 ohm cabs with my Mark IV question

I know this is not the Mark IV, but if you look at this manual for the Mark VII, they cover that speaker pairing thing. Mostly boiler plate stuff they stick in all of the manuals now. I wanted to look at the Mark IV manual but the links were broken on Mesa's website. Not sure if that had the...

using 2 8 ohm cabs with my Mark IV question

Depends on the impedance of the 2nd cab. If is an 8 ohm cab, then yes, both combo and 2nd cab plug into the 4 ohm output jacks. If you look at any of the more recent amp model's user manual on Mesa's website, they began including the pages that had several different combinations of speaker...

Mk iv pops when I turn it off

Anything is possible due to the age of the amp. Hopefully it is just the time between using the standby and then turning it off with the power switch.

What speaker for my Fillmore 50 - evm12l?

If you do try the EV with the Filmore, would be interesting to hear of the end result.

Mk iv pops when I turn it off

I can get that with any of my amps. I found if I wait for at least 30 seconds or longer it is much quieter. Try that and see if it makes a difference.

New (to me) Fillmore 25 - Question & possible PSA

Everyone has an opinion, all I did was voice mine. You can disagree with me. I am not expecting you to have the same opinion. The best move anyone can take is to play through both, side by side if you can. Only you can decide what amp is best for you. I had the opportunity to play...

Mark V 90 Combo Reverb Tank Connectors I/O

It is easy to tell which connector is what. If the chassis is still out, you can see the connectors from the inside. The one with the ground tab connected is the return. If you already have the chassis installed: black coax cable connects to the one more to the front white (single wire)...

    New Tube Color Code Question

You cannot go by the color code alone. If you are sticking with the same tube that came in the amp then you may hear some differences. There is not much of a difference between the green, gray and blue EL34 of the same tube in the TC50. When it comes to the wider selection of the 6L6 tubes...

Mark VII - Mark VII mode question

Not sure about the attenuators. Each power attenuator or load box will have a different characteristic to it. So hard to say if it is attenuator friendly.

    New Badlander Issue

So this issue is not as Scary as it seemed to be. Pun intended. Ah, JJ EL34 power tubes, Sort of reminds me when I tried a quad of their 6CA7 tubes. I had one tube that kept cutting in and out. It was in a Mark V90. The tubes sounded great but that only lasted 2 weeks. Had a different...
