REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

It is a real thing. Just waiting for them to release it. At first I thought it was just a fake first time I saw the images but could not zoom in on them to any extent to see any details. @danielpasco , I would agree, it looked like an export model but once you download one of the images, it...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

Depends on how authentic they will make it. Will the guts look like this: Probably not as this is the Mark VII internals Just remove the cabclone IR stuff, midi controller, internal speaker load stuff and many of the relays. You cannot even see the board for the power tubes as it is buried...

So I switched out my Mark IV for my Splawn last night at rehearsal and got an interesting response from the rest of the band

I have run EL34 in the class A sockets. Not bad. I got more out of the Mark IVB when blending different 6L6 tube pairs. SED =C= 6L6GC and TAD 6L6GCSTR (black plates) sounded so sinister and aggressive, that sound I was never able to replicate in any other Simul-Class amp to this day. that...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

Unless the sales engineer at Sweetwater was mistaken, he told me yesterday they had a meeting with the Mesa sales Rep yesterday. Release announcement will be in first week of December. He stated not to expect any amp until Feb/March time frame. We were talking about the IIC+ and I never...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

I got on the list for pre-order and will be notified if any changes are made or what not. Seems that the expected official announcement should happen first week of December, if all things progress without delay, expect product to reach dealers sometime late February each March. Oh well. There...

    Badlander el34s vs 6L6 smackdown

Love the BAD on clean with the gain pushed. Really cool sound. Actually, it has more gain than the Mark VII in clean or fat with the gain pushed. Even though it may share some common DNA with the Mark VII, it still sits in a class of its own. The crunch and crush are still different but...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

Heck, may as well jump on it. I have been debating if I should or not. May be the last chance I get while I can still afford to get it. Wonder how it will pair up with an EVM12L. If it is anything like the Mark VII and JP2C then it would be gold. Getting the head version. I am so undecided...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

I can only assume that is the case with the new amp. No other information except what I was told by Sweetwater, It is a DRG 75W/25W using all 6L6GC tubes. I would not doubt they will be the STR445 as those sound sic in the Mark VII. Couple that with the IIC+ preamp with all of its controls...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

Hold your horses on the STR416 unless you have a DRG Mark III or IIC+. I got some information on the IIC+ Reissue. It is a DRG but not what you think it is. Not an integrated quad like the IIC+ or III DRG models. Power section is based on the Mark VII. Runs all 6L6GC tubes. 75W/25W power...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

I would stick with the plan and get the IIC+ if it is a limited run. The Mark VII will still be available to get later on. I am almost considering getting on the list myself. Will have to call my Sweetwater engineer to get in on it. Besides that, I already have the STR415 tubes. Why not...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

I am eager to see the IIC+ Reissue. I think it would be cool to get one. Much more affordable than what you see on the used market these days. Sort of makes me wonder what transformers it will have. Mesa could use either PT that are used in the JP or Mark VII. Not sure about the OT though...

    Mark VII - Silent Practicing

Mark VII uses the same circuit that is in the Badlander, It will automatically switch over to an internal load when there is no speaker connected to any of the output jacks. This only applies to the models with the CabClone IR. Other amps that have the original CabClone will have a speaker...

    Mark VII or Reissue C+?

What @sloanthebone said. Too early to call. Are they any demo's of the reissue out yet? At least that would fire up the desires to get one. Surprised that this is only word of mouth and not on any of Mesa/Gibson websites. I have not called my Sweetwater sales engineer on the subject, but I...

    Mesa Thiele 4x12 stack

This sounds like a fun project and something I would probably try myself if I had those cabs.

Removing inner power tubes when running at 60w

Running the amp with no anode current in the inner pair with a heated cathode could result in cathode poisoning. That may result in a high resistance chemical layer that forms between the cathode tube and the oxide coating. Since you are only using the 60W power mode, that has a potential to...

Removing inner power tubes when running at 60w

Not sure how easy this will be to find. There is this socket base. You may be able to cut off or remove some of metal pins and leave only those that are not at a high voltage potential. It may also be possible to fill this base with expoxy or potting compound that does not have any carbon...

Removing inner power tubes when running at 60w

    (y) for the Aussie. Border collies do the same thing, but they got tails with long hair. I have gone through many vacuum cleaners over the years due to dog hair. Not sure if there are any covers to place on unused tube sockets. Socket savers are more of an extension socket, sometimes you...

REISSUE Rumor: Mark IIC+ and 2ch Recto

I got 1 quad from them at least. I should have bought two sets. That was around the same time Mesa released the STR448 tubes as I received those from sweetwater at the same time Mesa shipped me the STR415. Bummer they are now gone, that is to be expected.

An Occasional Chugger... Getting the Badlander to sound like a Classic Rect

An update for those following. The old Mesa tubes work great in the Roadster but did not work out in the MWDR. Those Mesa 6N4-J Chinese tubes from the 90's made the MWDR sound bright, brittle and boxy and it lost its depth of character. I did not get that result in the Roadster, probably...

Roadster use with 7-string guitar (if you can find the tubes that is)

Just for kicks, I was curious if these old Mesa tubes would work in the MWDR like they did in the Roadster. They did not. They work but the end result was a bright boxy tone of sorts lacking any character of what makes the MWDR a great amp. Oh well. Had to try it to find out. While...
