That would be correct sir! But I don't think it has anything to do with the Kinmans. I have had this issue with any Strat I have owned in the past. With any amp I have owned in the past.

But I am looking for that "single coil" sound. I have plenty of humbucker equip guitars, well 3 anyways. But if this doesn't work out I may take your suggestion since it is a great playing guitar. Don't really want to sell it. This isn't an issue with the MarkV, it is an issue with me. I am...

Yeah, I have tried lowering the pickup height and it seems to have helped somewhat. I just cannot seem to get a thick sound. Zero dynamics, doublestop bends sound weak. Used a compressor and that helped somewhat but I should be able to go straight into an amp and get a good sound.

I also rarely play the bridge pickup, I just swapped out the bridge for an Air Norton for the times I do. For me a Strat is all about the neck pickup and inbetween sounds.

or rather setting suggestions? For about 15yrs I have owned a Strat, in one configuration or another, maple fingerboard, stock pickups, after market pickups, etc... About 4 different total. My current flavor is a American Series, rosewood fingerboard, Kinmans in neck an middle and an Air Norton...

OD useless with the Mark V?

Only if you're flat footed. Jk. Like fleeced said, there's plenty of room. Never had a problem.

OD useless with the Mark V?

I wouldn't say useless in my case. I use a Barber Tone press mostly on the clean channel and I do have an unmodded Blues Driver that I use as a clean boost on the clean channel. This way I can get a nice just breaking up tone without having to switch over to Tweed mode in the middle of playing...

    Mesa Warranty

I think for now I will just stick with the stock tubes. On my F-50 I changed tubes in search of better tone since I am happy with the tones I am getting at this point I don't see me needing to swap tubes. I still think the warranty thing is a curiosity. :)

    Mesa Warranty

I just went through the F50 manual. No where in there does it state that using another manufacturers tubes will void the warranty. In the Mark V manual where it gives the layout of the tubes it states that "to maintain warranty use Mesa tubes when necessary". So it does seem to indicate that...

    Mesa Warranty

But when you buy from, say, DougsTubes or Eurotubes do they not select the tubes with the correct bias or at least within the range? I know both have a section for tubes for Mesa amps. Ran my Eurotubes in my F50 for a yr with no issues.

    Mesa Warranty

Just wondering why using tubes other than Mesa brand will void the warranty? The obvious would be that they want to sell their tubes but could there be any other reason? I mean they just rebrand tubes that others sell correct? Have they just started this? I do not remember reading anything...

Have found one thing I dislike about the Mark V

I got it in late 2006. I think it has the burst bucker pros in it. I think it might very well be the pickups. I dug my Strat out last night and plugged in. Other than having to adjust the mid's a bit it sounded fine. I really liked it in channel one tweed. The Strat has Kinman pickups in the...

Have found one thing I dislike about the Mark V

Overall I agree. I most definitely want my amp to sound different with different guitars. I just never heard that much difference before. I mean we are talking about 2 kinda of similar guitars, both mahogany bodies with maple tops, fixed bridge and humbuckers. I was expecting a bit of...

Have found one thing I dislike about the Mark V

Hey thanks. I will attempt to do that this weekend. I just thought that it was funny that I never noticed this through the F-50. Oh and by the way, you and the others were 100% correct. The high gain channel on the Mark destroys the F-50. No flubbiness, tight and awesome. Love it!

Have found one thing I dislike about the Mark V

It seems to be really sensitive to changing guitars. I don't mean the obvious like switching from a humbucker equip'd guitar to one with single coils but even between 2 different humbucking equip'd guitars with similar woods. For example my main guitar is an Ibanez RGA121 with a Duncan Jazz in...

    The mark V hype

Congested, harsh, boxy? I do not get that at all. Look I understand IIC+ owners love their amps. What I don't understand is all the butthurt some seem to express over the Mark V. Seriously, I mean these arguments are starting to become as relevant as Ford vs Chevy. Even more...

    FX loop tone degradation

I just came across this. You may also want to check out the Malekko, http://www.proguitarshop.com/product.php?ProductID=1689&CategoryID= . I do believe that this is gonna be my next delay. A couple of cool options, the ability to engage switch between true bypass or buffered loop to suit your...

    The mark V hype

Absolutely my friend! Anyone who has not spent sufficient time yet on the extreme mode, I strongly suggest that you do so... I believe that some folks may have gotten so caught up in the, "gotta see how accurate the IV/IIC+ modes are" that they may not be giving extreme mode a real shot. For...

    Let's hear em'. Best/Worst speakers,cabs,combinations

Mark V into a JCM800 cab with GT12-75's. Love the sound but I am thinking of getting a Recto 2x12, easier on the back :D . I also removed the handles to "open" the cab up some. Works pretty well. Still focuses nice but I also get a bit of openness when playing clean.
