I use a DD-20 in the loop of my Express 5:50, and it works great. The two head tape effect works very well and the four memories make it very simple to use.

Sounds like it would work fine for your needs ... but demo, demo, demo. You also might consider just getting two 1X12 cabinets and spread them apart for better dispersion.

It is less prominent in the 5 watts mode, but still there. It is a combination of things, but the speaker certainly is a part of it. Try the 2X12 5:50 :lol: My 5:50 replaced a Twin.

If you are coming from a Fender amp and play more 6L6 and especially clean sounds, then go toward the 5:50. If you are coming from a Marshall amp, prefer the EL84s and distortion, then go toward the 5:25. Both are great for the home player (like me).

The price for a 1X12 LSS in the states, from the August 2007 Mesa price list, is $1,699 plus any taxes. All dealers will sell the LSS at that price.

I can't tell if you are looking at the LSC more because of the 10 watt mode or because of the 100 watt mode. If you don't need 100 watts, you might want to at least try the Express 5:50 1X12 for about 2/3 the cost of an LSC. It is a 6L6 amp and runs at 5 or 50 watts. I only play at home and...

Beserker: I used to use either a GT-8 or ME-50 with my Twin. With all the available sounds from the 5:50 I now only use a DD-20, an RV-5 for extra verbs, and a PH-3 that I use sparingly. The amp can do the rest.

I used to run an ME-50 in the loop that worked fine. Now I only use a DD-20 and an RV-5 and am very pleased with the results.
