Yep. Lonestar cab. Not a perfect match looks wise but helps sound wise to cut some of the boominess of the 3/4 back. Sounds killer. I don't like MC-90's with my Mark, but they sound really good with the Dyne.

Well, I got a killer deal on a 1x12 extension cab to go under my killer deal Electra dyne! Virtually new for $175! Only $875 in entire mini stack! And the happy couple!

Hi all. I put the 12at7 in v1 of my Mark III today. Wow, big improvement for cleans, and more clarity for gain. I also put a 12ax7R in v3 to compensate for the v1 change and it made up for the 12at7 plus just a little more. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better! :twisted:

My bet is it is the pedal, not the loop that is coloring the tone. Mine is transparent. Try taking the pedal out and just jumping it with a cable from send to return. Also if you have 2 long 20 or 30 foot cables going to and from the pedal, that could make a difference. Good luck.

I know what you guys are saying, and I did qualify the volume issue. The bottom line is, I have yet to play an amp that has a basic tonal structure that I didn't dig at lower levels or in a guitar store, etc... that then blew me away later. All tube amps sound best at impractical store volumes...

Tried a Bogner Uberschall today at my local GC today. Wasn't my cup of tea as I like tight MK3 tones, but it was still cool. I prefer a Recto for these tones, but I could see some people digging it. I seemed to like the mids cranked on it or it was flubby. Anyone else try one of these?

Does the G-major have 2 separate send/returns? If not it will blend the 2. If it does have seperate you may have to adjust a wet/dry parameter? Good luck.

I'm not familiar with this amp, but on some amps, just running a patch cable from send to return can clear up an issue like this. Worth a try anyway.

III's are supposed to have the most gain of the Mark series. The only amp I've played with more is the 5150 II I used to own. Just like that amp, I don't use all the available gain as it starts to lose definition. I like my Mark III best of these amps I've owned: Marshall Vintage Modern, Peavey...

Try pulling out all the tubes and reseating them. Otherwise you've got a weak tube or possibly a tranformer problem. I had an amp that did that same thing and each time it took less and less time. Finally the transformer took a dump. Good luck. :(
