    Pre-500 on ebay

I think you're right on that one - the table width and green stools are a dead giveaway; the hacked up description text sure doesn't help, either. Good eye!

Give me all the info on the Dual Recto

I know, I know! I'm sorry! Don't get me wrong, I think that the Mark IV is a bloody fantastic amp, and it's definitely in my "to get" list. That said, they each do separate things, and I'm reluctant to let the polarized Mark = Good, Recto = Bad comments go without at least some...

Give me all the info on the Dual Recto

And a Mark IV can't do what a Recto does; it's a two way street. It's all about personal preference, here.

Roadster - Does it have the 3 Channel Solo Head 'fizz'?

I really am digging the Recto for rhythm stuff, and the Doug's Tubes combo is a definite improvement over other Solo Heads I've heard. I guess I'm just sort of GASing for the 2 channel dirty sound with better cleans, and I've seen the Roadster's voicing be favourably compared to that of the...

Roadster - Does it have the 3 Channel Solo Head 'fizz'?

I'm currently running the "Doug's Tubes Special" (Power: =C= 6L6, Pre: Tung-Sol, JJ, Penta, Shuguang, Sovtek), but still find the problem to be present. Maybe I'm just hyper-critical about the fizz, but it really bugs me to not be able to get rid of a sound I don't like in an amp.

Roadster - Does it have the 3 Channel Solo Head 'fizz'?

Note: I know that this question has been asked in other guises in the past, and likely remains quite a can of worms, but I wanted to get an updated opinion from users. I'm getting increasingly annoyed with the infamous "fizzy" high end in the 3ch Triple Rec's distortion, but I still like the...

Weird smells from the Triple Rec.

Indeed, the smell did decrease over time... It's still somewhat present, but nothing that's making me worry. Thanks, folks.

    Need Dual Rectifier Head Shell

I would be the one that won it - sorry ibanezgtr. If it's any consolation, my current shell is in three very non-functional pieces, so the eBay one is going to what I feel to be a worthy cause. Are you looking for replacement parts, or an intact shell? Edit: To anyone who saw my earlier...

Weird smells from the Triple Rec.

These smells persisted for the hour and a bit that I played it, but it was its first time being used in quite some time, and the first time with the new tubes. I'll take a look at the yellow goo next time I'm near the amp (read: after dinner) and report back. For what it's worth, it's only...

Weird smells from the Triple Rec.

After waiting for the tubes to arrive, I was finally able to get my new-to-me Triple Rec (3ch.) up and running tonight. This amp has had its shell get badly damaged (to the point of un-usability) in an earlier shipping accident, but its internals apparently checked out in the pre-sale look-over...

Mesa's policy on using non-Mesa tubes and voiding warranties

See, as tempting as this approach is, I just can't get behind it. By trying to mask what was, for all rights and purposes, a mistake the company (in this case Mesa) specifically warned you against, it just takes time and resources away from those who followed the instructions to a T and still...

To those looking for a MKIV---> there's 1 on eBay (not mi

****, you're right! I guess Mesa decided to skip a generation or 107 with their occasionally talked about follow-up to the MkIV... Psh, bet it's all marketing, anyway.

To those looking for a MKIV---> there's 1 on eBay (not mi

Er, correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's a MkIII.

Bump. If you know anyone looking to get rid of a shell, please let me know.

Triple Rectifier safe with 120W 2x12 cab?

Oh yeah, that was always the plan. I've got a local cab builder who's likely going to be doing it for a good bit less than the standard Mesa cost, though, which was quoted to be $300USD+shipping with 8-10 weeks wait. I'm still not sure what I want to do with it after its been re-furbed...

Triple Rectifier safe with 120W 2x12 cab?

For what it's worth, here's the word from Mesa:

Triple Rectifier safe with 120W 2x12 cab?

Yeah, I'm hoping that I can pull tubes and run it at 100W. The problem is the ever-conflicting accounts of that technique's results on the Ohms of the Triple; some say it's okay, others... not so much. In another post on the board, I remember reading that Mesa said it was okay, but seem to...

Triple Rectifier safe with 120W 2x12 cab?

I haven't had much luck finding information on this in the archives, so I thought I might as well ask... apologies if it's rather newbie to do so, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. So here I am, all gung ho to get a Recto 2x12 and actually start playing the amp I've so long wanted, when it...

WTB: Head shell for 3ch. Triple Rectifier

This is a bit of a long shot, but as the subject states, I'm looking to find a good condition head shell for a 3ch. TR. I picked the amp up knowing that the shell would need replacement, but haven't been able to find one locally. I'm in Canada, but would be willing to import from the USA if...
