Note: I know that this question has been asked in other guises in the past, and likely remains quite a can of worms, but I wanted to get an updated opinion from users.

I'm getting increasingly annoyed with the infamous "fizzy" high end in the 3ch Triple Rec's distortion, but I still like the Rectifier sound and need a good clean channel. So, I must ask - does the Roadster's voicing fix the fizz, or is that only possible with the old 2 channels?

I'm aware that I could get the Triple modded, but the prospect of the Lonestar cleans is rather intriguing.

Agreed. I just swapped the power tubes in my Road King today and it sounds amazing.

My Roadster seems smoother than I ever remember my 3-ch Triple being.

As mentioned, the right tubes really make a difference. Have you tried the Tung-Sol or GT Mullard re-issue in V1?

What are you using for power tubes?

And of course the cleans are a lot better in the Roadster.

I'm currently running the "Doug's Tubes Special" (Power: =C= 6L6, Pre: Tung-Sol, JJ, Penta, Shuguang, Sovtek), but still find the problem to be present.

Maybe I'm just hyper-critical about the fizz, but it really bugs me to not be able to get rid of a sound I don't like in an amp.

Hate to say it but the rectifier series may not be for you. At least not for leads. Once you get something stuck in your head, al la "fizziness" the concept may not leave you.

Test drive some other things and see how you feel.

I really am digging the Recto for rhythm stuff, and the Doug's Tubes combo is a definite improvement over other Solo Heads I've heard. I guess I'm just sort of GASing for the 2 channel dirty sound with better cleans, and I've seen the Roadster's voicing be favourably compared to that of the older models.

For leads, well, that's a whole other story, and I certainly can't afford a second amp at the moment, so it'll have to be worked out later. Oh, the money we spend.
