Spongy drops the internal voltages of the amp... Are you sure your amp isn't "modded" by the previous owner? Maybe it has a Bias pot-mod or something and is set wrong. Otherwise I advice you to record the problem in audio/video and contact Mesa directly about this.

Looking to build a Thiele too... I have one EVM12L laying around and want to make a cab for it. The Thiele seems by far the best option. Does someone know what Mesa changed in the EV TL806 design? EV's plans on the 806 are incomplete IMO btw... still figuring out the size of the (10 something)...

Probably a pre-amp tube as stated before me... but, what pickups (in your guitar of course) do you use? Any overdrive/distortion pedals in front?

What model do you have? 110v or 230v? What is the rating of the fuse? I don't suspect this is the problem since you're talking about the PT and not the OT... but is the head connected with a 'real' speaker cable to your cabinet/speakers?

Guys, thanks for the heads up on this... I have all TS's in my triple rec for about a year without problems. I use my amp at home and at band rehearsals/gigs. What will eventually go wrong with these tubes? They just blow? Or can you hear them go bad? The past weeks I noticed some sort of high...

TS is the best pre-amp tube at this moment IMHO. My triple rec has all TS pre's.

Yeah man, the manual scared me too in doing that... I wonder if it really does damage... or that it just doesn't sound that good. I mean, why would Mesa retail potential self-destructing products?

Hardwire RV7 is a pretty good pedal for it's price. I liked it better than pedals that were double the price.

Gently tap ALL tubes to find the bad one(s). You sure there is no interference on the AC outlet?

Have you tried to connect the send and return jacks with a patch cable?

Man... 800 usd.... I bought my 2005 Triple second hand in 2008 for 1700 euro's. :x At the time the amp was 2800 euro's new.

Only 800!? Even if it's GBP it's cheap. Strange about the pre-amp tubes btw... Is it only one tube? Was the glass cracked? Maybe the previous owner put in old tubes and kept the ones he used? Nevertheless you bought a great amp and welcome to the unofficial Triple Club :mrgreen: A quick tip...
