I remember hearing something to the same extent about the korean guitars.

Schecter guitars................just how good are they?

A lot of schects are korean also. It'd be interesting to do some research on the korean guitar shops, because they've all been putting out good quality instruments. If this a worthless looking instrument, Rock, I'd like to see a good looking one. Bonus points for the same price range.

Schecter guitars................just how good are they?

Schecter fills a nice niche in the market. In my opinion they are a go to intermediate guitar. Decent sound from the duncans, great playability, and not too hard on the eyes. These are often the best choice for the salesperson and the buyer. What competition do they have? From my experience...

My mesa is under the weather

Never have. How do you safely discharge the capacitors? This is not something I'm fully considering doing myself. I may pay some extra for an amp tech to give me and overview of what to look for and check while they get me repaired.

    is this a tube problem?

http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?t=21704 The volume feathers around randomly and much bellow where it should be. Also I get a static buzz on occasion when playing on the clean channel. I'll go to standby to check that all the tubes are glowing the same and coming back the amp may or may...

My mesa is under the weather

I'm still trying to pinpoint what's going on here. So tonight I was testing the guitars and cables on my Rocket 440. I got similar results with all combinations. The volume feathers around randomly and much bellow where it should be. Also I get a static buzz on occasion when playing on the...

    What Guitar Center Sounds Like

Yeah, I like to use my hook ups for better pricing and have twelve months to pay off my new gear. I still remember selling two cars worth of gear (28K) and getting a $650 paycheck for the month. The place is fucked.

    Nu Metal

Mastodon is always good, especially Leviathan. They do a great job of creating their own sound and delivering music that appropriately represents the subject matter. Haha, yeah this thread isn't about Nu Metal so much as new metal... If you want some good bands that are newer look into...

My mesa is under the weather

When playing my boogie has ben unexpectedly losing volume. It will sometimes return to where it should be but I have found no way to control what is happening. I suspected it may be the tremolo switch acting up again but the problem continues even without the footswitch. The amp was also...

Does Anybody Else Own a Parker?

I don't own one, but I will vouch for an American Parker fly being the fastest guitar I've ever played. They're savage with a graphite neck and piezo. The wing jabs me in the stomach when I play sitting down too haha

    What Guitar Center Sounds Like

False. I didn't hear Seek and Destroy once and there's no Rush on the radio. If that's a real recording, that dude has become the corperate tool GC strives for.

which pick ups are best for all types of rock

I have a duncan distortion and a Korean sweat shop duncan invader aka detonator. I got the detonator for twelve bucks working at guitar center and it does pretty well, even with a coil split. I appreciate the tone of both far more than the stacked dimarzio humbuckers I used to use. All and all...

    Which cheap (under $600) guitar??????????

I've been pretty happy with the quality of korean guitars in general. Schec, prs, and even squier. You could look into a Gibson Melody Maker. Also you might look into talking a Gibson Junior or worn finish studio down to your price range. Anything by Gretsch you like? Squier Stagemaster? hahah

    Getting Good Tone

A good set of plugs should help hold on to your treble. link My amp felt great while I was in a my last band, but alone I've become almost hyper critical. Recording alone without the location to really dial the amp wide open isn't the same. I think good tone for any instrument is helped by not...

    help understanding compression

I've been reading up on compression and can recite what it is doing. However I really don't have a practical understanding on using compression. Could someone give examples of audio that could be helped with added compression, audio where compression is being abused, and/or quality examples of...

    How are these tones different?

In this thread I'd really like people to post two recordings of their own or of others and to compare them. Also general advice on how to get from tone A to tone B. I'll start. I'd like to compare these two http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FIN6KYC1 http://www.myspace.com/periphery songs Insomnia...

    Getting a warmer tone

I picked up a good deal on an Audio-Technica AT4050. A handful of amp settings adjusted and a switch to a tapped neck pickup and the 57 is out performing the AT at least until I find the right spot for it.
