    More clean headroom in Roadster

I only use the FX loop to fine-tune the overall volume, and when diagnosing the problem today I did not use the loop. I suppose I could engage the loop and output knob to get my desired clean volume level, but I don't like having to hit two footswitch buttons to go from clean to dirty. The...

    More clean headroom in Roadster

I'm having issues getting enough clean headroom with my Roadster for live use. I've got a mad dirty tone on channel 3, vintage, 50 watt and diode. Spongy setting too. Les Paul, Pearly Gates bridge, channel 3 master at about 12. I'm running into an SD SFX-01 pickup booster, gain at about 12, so...

    Roadster rhythm tone - help!

I'm pretty sure they demo their amps with Tom Anderson H3s actually. And while the L-500XL is a high output, full frequency passive pickup designed to act like an active pickup, 57 Classics are lower output Alnico II PAF style pickups... completely different animals. With all the gain Mesas have...

    Are rectos too bassy...

Maybe you should read what the post actually says before you start flaming... it was about guitar/pickup combos through a recto, not rectos themselves which I even reiterated in another post; its not my fault everyone decided to start a "rectos are bassy I hate them" bash. I think one or two...

    best passives for shred

Is the Roadster a darker amp? I guess I should know the natural EQ of my own amp... all I've read is that Roadsters/rectos have a lot of lower mids.

    Are rectos too bassy...

Haha, I didn't mean to start a recto-bashing thread; I was just wondering if any combos *in particular* were overly bassy, not if rectos are too bassy in general :P

    best passives for shred

****, now I'm in another dilemma because I've started GASing for a JB... I guess 3 guitars just aren't enough

    best passives for shred

Hmm, I'll look into it... the Screamin Demon has been one of those pickups that I've wanted to try but kept getting pushed to the bottom of the list :/ Its description does seem to match what I want; crisp, growly, percussive, big :) and it doesn't sound too jangly (in a strat that is)?

    Are rectos too bassy...

for certain guitar/pickup combinations, such as Les Paul/SuperDistortion? I find myself running the bass on my Roadster almost always around zero even with my alder strat and singles, but I'm intrigued by the SuperD/LP being such a classic combo.

    best passives for shred

I have Pearly Gates in a Les Paul, SD singles in a strat, so I'm just looking to round out my tone spectrum with this remaining strat. The tone I'm chasing is a fat, chunky tone that sounds great for rhythm palm muted playing, not solo playing so much. The kind of tone that you hear on...

    best passives for shred

I do have an L-500XL lying around; I haven't installed it because its too big for the pickguard (nothing a little sandpaper can't fix) and it will be VERY close to the strings... also, I'm just trying to get some suggestions so that hopefully I can just pop one in and have it rock- with over 15...

    best passives for shred

Haha, I just sold off my Fender Noiseless pickups... but it definitely sounds like that guy's got the technique to do whatever he wants. I don't really have those kinds of chops, I just like to play some rhythm shred every once in a while. Plus I need a Fat Strat to compliment my vintage strat!

    best passives for shred

What are the best pickups for getting badass chunky tone for shred type rhythm playing out of an alder strat? Any brand will do... my particular guitar has a rosewood board and my amp is a Roadster.

    Clean tones on Roadster

On my strat w/ singles I like the Fat mode, treble down a bit, mids up a bit, bass to taste, presence about halfway. I like to crank the gain sometimes or just set it above breakup. I've also had good results with the Brit setting with the treble at 10 oclock, mids at 10, bass to taste, gain to...

Anyone using yellow jacket tube sockets with a Rectifier?

I've been planning on trying some el-34s in my roadster you guys are making these yellowjackets sound pretty sweet; especially considering how it knocks the wattage down. I don't use the modern mode that much.

    Roadster Brit setting

I have an SD pickup booster on the way and I'm looking forward to using it with the Tweed/Brit modes to really add some fire.

    Mesa Amp Advice?

I keep finding that the key to good tone on a rectifier (I have a roadster) is to just turn the gain down. Also to get the mids to be more prominent, you can't just turn the mids up, you have to also turn the treble down. So far my best, most articulate and punchy mids have come with the treble...

    Roadster Brit setting

I've found that the brit setting does have some treble frequences that seem to jab themselves into my brain, even with the tone knob rolled down, treble down, and presence at 0. I'm betting though, that it will sound a lot better in a full band situation. I'm in the same situation- had some...

    el-34s and rectifiers

I have been playing with the brit setting on the Roadster lately and I do enjoy the extra bite/punch it has... I'm looking forward to the swap! Regarding the cleans, can you still get a good warm tone for strummed jazz chords?

Okay, I think I know what you're saying. Thanks.
