    Roadster- too much all around

Yeah from youtube the JSX seems pretty fizzy, compressed, and definitely has that Satch vibe. I'm not sure if I dig it - but I'd have to play it to see.

    Roadster- too much all around

Part of the problem is that I don't really like the rectifier style distortion. I should've done more research before buying the amp, but you all know how GAS is... Barebones, instant gratification is what I'm looking for. More specifically, 1x12 combo, under 50 lbs, easy to dial in, 2...

    Best Mesas for low volumes?

The cab I'm using may be what's causing my beef with the Roadster. I'm using the 3/4 back 2x12 cab. I got an EQ pedal to try in the loop to make up for cab deficiencies, but I haven't played live in a few months, and my Line 6 Spider III 30 sounded pretty **** good when I tried it at practice...

    Best Mesas for low volumes?

Which Mesas sound the best at low volumes? Express, F-30? Not trying to achieve any certain tone, just a convincing crunch.

    Roadster and pickup questions

The Tremonti pickup is based on the Gibson 500t, which is what Mark used before PRS approached him. Many folks say the 500t is very similar to the Duncan Distortion. Any of those three pickups would get you in the same tonal ballpark. And FWIW, the JB is the same pickup as the Duncan Distortion...

Help me pick the right Mesa for me

For what its worth, buying the Nomad and a huge cab may inspire you to start a band! You'll want to with all that massive crunch at your disposal :) I'd check around for good pedals to use with the Nomad, because I've also heard that bit about it being the "black sheep." A nice...

Help me pick the right Mesa for me

Yeah I know it was wordy, but I feel passionately about people wasting money since I've wasted a ton of my own on gear this past couple of years :/ Its just about figuring out what you need. I wanted an upgrade from a Fender Hot Rod, and I was gigging regularly, and while I should've like an...

Help me pick the right Mesa for me

Are you sure you want a Mesa if you don't play gigs? They need lots of volume to sound their best, and you'll likely be disappointed any time you play it at lower volumes. When I play my Roadster at home and I get it to Good Tone volume, I can be heard for blocks, which makes me not want to play...

    A Slut With No Personality

And if you need your recto fix while you wait and do more research, pick up a little Spider III for 100 or 200 bucks, its a great practice amp and the Mesa model sounds surprisingly good. Then return it to GC via shipping because it isn't quite as heavy as a TR :)

How close is the RK II clean (ch.1) to a Lone Star really?

I thought the reverb came from the Lonestar and the Fat mode came from the Mark series amps? For the Roadster, at least. Cleans using the Tweed setting on my Roadster with EL34s sound basically identical to the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe I just sold.

    Classic Recto Tones

What are some bands that can provide some different examples of Recto tone? What bands have brutal Recto tone, what bands have ultra-compressed Recto tone? Petrucci, Mark Tremonti, and System of a Down are a few examples I can think of, but I don't know if their tones are brutal or compressed.

Recto with EQ pedal in loop....

I laughed the whole time I read those two posts. I mean, its a forum board, respect isn't important as long as you don't flame people. Do you think Mesa respects any of us? :D Next time someone with a lot of knowledge joins up, please don't try to scare them off by shaking your Forum...

    Pulling tubes?

Haha yeah, a blanket may the way to go! I'm just trying to bring the volume down as much as possible, because right now I'm playing my Spider III almost exclusively. I may just have to suck it up and run the amp on Spongy and 50 watt. Which tubes are selected when 50 watts is chosen? I ask...

    Pulling tubes?

So there's no way to run just one tube for a 25 watt setting?

Anyone use the Brit mode on your Roadster???

    Pulling tubes?

If I wanted to pull some tubes out of a Roadster to decrease the volume which ones would I pull, power or preamp or both? What is the minimum number of tubes I could safely use? I found that using only two Yellowjackets and Spongy brought the volume down to a decent practice level but I'd like...

Any Roadster or Yellowjacket users know about power tube selection or Yellowjacket placing?

Recto with EQ pedal in loop....

Can an EQ be used to minimize the Recto fizz as well? What frequency would this be?
