The Mark IIa has a bias pot installed from factory!

Yes it does! If you check the schematics it can be seen that is the only model in the Mark series that has this feature. The Mark I and the Mark IIb doesn't has it... This is funny... It is probably the only model in the Mesa history with bias pot. Yesterday I've been readjusting the bias in...

    1979 Mark II

I am not an expert, but i think the price may depend a lot on the options. MarkIIa could be bought with: - 60W o 100W power output. - Optional Graph eq - Optional Reverb - Figured wood cabinet - Combo or head I guess thet depending on the specific configuration the amp will cost more or less.

Good OD pedal to go with Mark IV?

Also, some OD effects mixed with tube distortion creates textures that are very difficult to get with tubes or effects alone. Just pick a TS-type of overdrive and place it in front of a hot preamp tube and magic will happen.

    Hum on pickup positions 1, 3 & 5

Try to move around... Noise sources are directional... Do you have any computer on the room?

    I don't get it!

I think the warranty issue has more to do with the dealers. If you buy a amp in the states, and take it to the UK, is the US dealer the one that gets the profit, but is the UK dealer the one that would take all the cost in case the amp fails. Also you are buying overseas not expending your money...

Mesa Mark IIB shred clip...warning: wankage content!

Wow! that's sweet! Congrats! I have a Mark IIa that I am having trouble to set up. Could tell me what were the settings in this track? Was it too loud when you recorded? Thanks!

    Mark IV Problem? (Clip inside)

That second harmonic thing is something that I noticed when I played thought the overdriven channel of my friends LSC. Its a bit annoying in the first time, once you get used to it gives the sound a very strong base. Anyway I don't think is something common in tube amps. This LSC was the only...

Good OD pedal to go with Mark IV?

For something gritty try the Boss SD-1, Van-Halen favourites to push the 1959 heads n the first records. I think Tubescreamer type of pedal would give you that smooth, mid-hump overdrive. The Boss SD-1 has a more treble lift that adds a nasty character to the tone.

Mark III no need for LSS?

What people usually associates with class A has more to do with other factors which are: - EL84 natural crispness in tone, with very detailed treble. - Cathode biased output sections, with lots of overtones and an overall warmer tone. Also a slight earlier breakup. - This is more for AC30...

    Express 5:50 I can't get enough power

You should seriously consider lowering the rehearsal volume. Otherwise you'll be deaf pretty soon. :?

    best mesa for cleans?

I am not an expert but the LSS is the amp with the best cleans of every amp I've tried. My Mark IIa (60W) has great expansive, textured, detailed cleans when you set the gain in the low range and the master high. If you go to the recommended mesa setting of "7", this is to get enough overdrive...

Mark IV compact combo and short head no more ?

would you modify a Mark IIa?

Yeah! I love the rock tone of the Mark IIa. And the Graph Eq does really make a difference! Few days back some me and other guitarists met to jam and try different amps and gear. We plugged the Mark IIa to a 4x12 with V30. That moved some air!! The gain isn't over the top (not Metallica tone...

would you modify a Mark IIa?

I decided not to do any modification yet. I am finishing to adapt the cab I've bought and, after that, I am going to play a bit with it to get a general feel of what this amp is capable to do. Then I'll reconsider any modification. The switching noise is quite annoying so I guess I'll mod it...

so I (think) I need another amp...

If you don't have a band and already have a big amp, why do you want another? If you are jamming in the studio a 5Watter would be a nicer option. Just my 2 cents.

WTB: 220V(or multitap) Power Transformer for a Mark IIa 60W.

I live in Europe (Spain) and I have a Mark IIa 110V (60W) I am using with a step down transformer. I'd like to change the power transformer with a 220V. A multitap power transformer would be ok too. I don't know, but may be a PT from other Mark models will fit in the chassis. If you have a...

Alternatives to the (Heavy) EVM 12L

haha! Yes, but if you see the basket construction then you'll understand. All my Celestions are bent near the holes due to screw pressure. The EVM 12L I have is 20 years old and the basket is in perfect shape. I mean that you can buy a EVM 12L for 100$ on ebay. That's cheap for what you get.
