All True Bypass pedals in the fx loop??

I would put all time based effects in the loop and leave all gain boxes in front. It seems to be very easy to overdrive the loop with distortion effects. Delays, reverbs etc. in the loop and gain in front. Enjoy!

    LSC 2x12 - Original MC90's or Vintage 30's?

I use a Classic Lead 80 which is basically a MC90 and a Vintage 30 (60 watt) in a custom 2x12 recto clone. I love it. I would recommend it. When I play rock I mic the V 30, country/blues I mic the Classic lead.

volume drop/cut out and static again and now NO SOUND!

I don't have anything chinese in my lonestar. I play 3 nights a week, 4 hours a night, 140+ days a year. I have had my LSC for two years, the first thing I did was put all NOS tubes in V1,2,3,4. I leave V5 a JJ gold pin balanced for a phase inverter. I do "clean the contacts" in my loop and...

    Speaker - G12H vs C-90

Just so you guys know. According to Dave at Avatar speakers. A C-90 and a Classic Lead start out as the same speaker. Boogie modifies the voice coil slightly and calls it 90 watts, but it comes from the Celestion factory as a Classic Lead. I don't think Classic Leads are Dark sounding at...

LSC blowing fuses in 100 watt mode only? Any Ideas?

At performance volumes, at the loudest part of the song, my LSC is losing volume, then it is either popping a powerstrip (happened twice) or blowing the 4 amp slo blo (happened once). It only happens on channel two (reeder modded a year ago) at the peak of a solo when I am really flaming! I can...

Anyone tried zen drives out with their Lonestar?

I have a LSC and love my zendrive! I have an original one. Highly recommend!! Greg

anyone get a Dumble tone out of the LSS?

Get a Zendrive. I love mine. It nails the Dumble Overdrive tone. Robben Ford worked with the designer to specifically get a Dumble tone. I use one with my LSC and I can absolutely cop Robben's tone. I wish I could cop his licks! He is amazing. Greg

I'm Done with JJ's and need some more advice

Actually, I believe the opposite is true. Longer plate structures are generally more prone to microphonics. But, some feel longer plates equals larger tone! I like both long plates like Telefunkens and short plates like Teslas and RFTs. IMHO when it is NOS it's almost always good!! Greg

Anybody try the Xotic BB Plus?

Looking for opinions! Thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these! I like the eq section possibilities with channel two! Regular BB Pre users chime it too! Thanks Greg

    eurotubes... so many options

DJW, are you calling me a geek? The beauty of tone is the result at the end of the search. I like the RCAs because they sound the most "Country" in the LSC IMHO The Sylvanias are generally strong tubes and give me lots of flexibility in the "drive" mode in channel 2. The AT7s sound much warmer...

    eurotubes... so many options

I really like JJ 6L6 power tubes. NOT that crazy about their pretubes. I have wanted to try the goldpin series. I like a RCA 7025 (NOS) in V1 and another NOS either Sylvania or Jan Phillips in V2. I use a NOS 12AT7 for the reverb driver. And anything balanced for V4 (effects loop) and V5...

I find myself in a Pickle.

Maybe if everyone turned down a bit, you could hear yourself!! I have played arena shows (15000+) with a Triaxis and a 20/20 and I play in a 750 seat club every week with a LSC on 50 watt setting. There is no reason in the world that you can't hear an amp on stage, EXCEPT everyone is too...

    Tweed Setting on LSC

Greg, I have the same amp. I would see if a set of 6V6s will help? They are OK to use in the LSC with certain settings. Search Charles Reeder posts. He uses a combo of 6V6s and those yellowjacket things to be able to push the power tubes. He has all the data you need. I use 6L6s, but on...

    Pre-amp tubes for a LSC 10/50/100

+1 on the Sylvanias as well. I like them too I use a JAN Phillips 12AX7 a lot as well. They rock. I have a Mullard that has been in three different amps for over two years and still sounds great. Search for relabeled Mullards on EBAY. You can find them cheaper. Search the post on tubes and...

'Flabby/Muddy' Bass on the Lonestar? Want to change it?

Well, after this weekend, I would have to say that the midrange "reeder" mod is a success. I didn't tell the soundman or my drummer (who uses in-ears) what I did to the amp. After the 1st night I asked, "How does the amp sound?" The soundman said, " I had to turn you up a little and the...

'Flabby/Muddy' Bass on the Lonestar? Want to change it?

I did the mod. Very easy, took 30 min start to finish. I do notice a different slope to the mid/bass response. I like it. Not an amp changing modification, but probably as impactful as the original "Reeder" mod. I have kept my amp "Reeder" modified and am happy with it. I do think that the...

    Pre-amp tubes for a LSC 10/50/100

I am using a NOS RCA 12ax7 for V1 and a NOS Mullard 12ax7 for V2 and I can get a really nice mid gain Clapton-ish tone. I like that tube combo for the LSC classic better than anything that I have tried. I use a NOS 12AT7 for the reverb driver as well. The NOS sounds better than the new tubes...
