    LSS - newbie type questions

The reason i asked mesa about the tube layout was for that same reason. When he told me, he also said it doesn't matter, cuz all the tubes were "on" all the time anyways ?? I forgot to ask if we are able to pull tubes if we only use 5 and 15W mode. But from what he said, my guess is no.

    LSS TECH PROBLEM

Was you channel 2 on 30W mode? The only differences between the 2 are the 1st half of v1 (Tube wise) So if it only happends on CH1, in 30W and not on ch2 in say 15, you know it's the power tubes. On a side note, the only issues i had with my LSS, were tubes. Change them, if it still...

    LSS - newbie type questions

When i called mesa, they told me that in 5W mode, only the tube beside the rect is used. in 15W mode, the 2 beside are used. I use the stock speaker in the combo, and i have a 1x12 tone tubby ext cab. As for 12ax7 tubes, I like the tung-sol's For El84 i like the TAD(The JJ's would blow my...

    My Tripple Rec isn´t loud!?!

I would guess that your problem is the tubes. Even though you got new ones, they might be bad. Loss of volume usually means Power Tubes The noises might be a microphonic pre-amp tube. Sucks you just got new tubes, but i would say try another set. If problems are still there, go to a tech.

    Celestion Gold in LSS?

Great post Mick, pretty much what i wanted to say

    Celestion Gold in LSS?

Everything i've read pointed to the TT used in an open back cab. But i had to try it myself :) just to be sure.

    Celestion Gold in LSS?

I wouldn’t describe the TT as “aggressive”, sweeter could work. I find it’s smoother with more definition a bigger sound. (not louder, but more full) Mick, I got the standard 8ohm TT. I put mine in the 1x12 and left the LSS alone. (Homemade with removable back) I prefer it open back, it’s not...

    Celestion Gold in LSS?

Hey JAZZ, I can only speak for myself. But after paying such a high price for any amp, and if that is getting almost to the tone in your head. Why not make a subtle change to try to get you closer to what you want? I agree the stock speaker in the LSS sounds good. But the more I spend with the...

OK, put a Celestion Blue in the LSS....

Had a couple of days with the Tone Tubby. At TV volume there is a moderate improvement. But when you get above 9:30, wow, It’s more defined and responsive. It’s a totally different beast. They say it sounds even better when it breaks in, I find that hard to believe. (And am pumped as hell to...

OK, put a Celestion Blue in the LSS....

UPS is scheduled to arrive today :) I'm keeping my amp stock, and built a 1x12 to hold the Tone Tubby. It has a removable back (As most people with the TT seem to prefer open backs) I'll let you know what I prefer and hopefully post some clips to show the comparisons. Cheers

    LSS tube layout

Just talked with Chris @ Mesa, He said that in 5W, only the tube closest to the rectifier is used. In 15W it's that tube plus the next one down.

    LSS tube layout

The tube layout in the manual only shows the pre-amp. I would like to know about the power tubes.

    LSS tube layout

Hi All, What is the power tube layout for the LSS? from the rectifier, is it 1->4 Also, when in 5W & 15W which tubes are used? Is it always the outer pair and the inner pair? The reason I ask, is I never switch to the 30W, so I want to rotate my tubes so they last longer. Cheers

OK, put a Celestion Blue in the LSS....

Hey Rick, Thats good to hear. So you think it made a great improvement? (I ask, becuase i get my Tone Tubby tomorrow (Fingers crossed for UPS))

OK, decided on the Celetion Blue for the LSS

I should be getting my Tone Tubby early next week. I'm building a 1x12 to pair up with my LSS. That's a sweet tone machine Rick

    Lonestar Special Question

I agree. (Plus the added advantage of only burning up two tubes vs all four) Great post Gary K, exactly what I wanted to say :)

    Lonestar Special Question

I don't find there is a large difference in volume going from 5w to 30w. There are subtle differences, but it isn't like turning down the volume by a 1/2.

    Best multi-effects with a Mesa?

Hey cellar, I tried the ME-50 thru the loop of my LSS, and it was garbage. I couldn't get a decent volume out of it, even with both send and receive dimed. In front it was ok, but i only used the delay, chorus, flanger. All of which "should" be in the loop. I gave it to my bro, and bought...

    LSS registry

Hey Tiger, I really like the sound of that ASAT. They are more like a P90 than a traditional single coil, but they are there own beast. Kinda noisy but that's expected. But i can get a nice twang sound to a dirty bluesy grit, with the roll of the volume. I woudn't use them for shredding, but...
