    mesa bought by guitar center?

That's the entire reason why I do business like I do. I've been working as a guitar tech for nearly 10 years now. Nothing professional, nothing full time, just whenever someone needs my help, I help them. I'm also trying to get into building effects pedals with the intent to sell. The only...

    tone loss.....

^HA....yes...I shifted when I shant have shifted. 25' cables in the send and receive spots. The cables are home made using switchcraft plugs and stock coax left behind by a Time Warner tech.

Advice Needed For Complex Preamp/Poweramp Combination Issues

plumptone has a good concept there, but here's what I would do. For one, I wouldn't try to run stereo with 3 amps. It is destined to end up a mess of switching units and complicated MIDI programming. I would pair down to two amps, which I'm guessing you'd want to Lonestar for cleans and the...

    tone loss.....

I use 25" runs for the send and return to my pedalboard and I've had no issues. Base tone still sounds the same with or without the effects loop turned on.

    Any GT8 users?

Have you tried the HC with the Mesa? Maybe place it between the GT-8 effects send and the input on the Roadster. I'm interested to hear if you've tried that combination...could make your overdrive effects on the GT-8 a bit smoother as they go into the preamp on the Roadster.

    Any GT8 users?

jdurso...the same concepts apply to just about any effects unit, digital or analog. But with analog, you don't have the luxury of level meters :D I've often thought about the HC, but I never had a use for one really. I bought the GT-8 initially for the effects, but then I started using it as...

    Any GT8 users?

No problem. Yes, it is a rather lengthy process, but I took care of my GT-8/Roadster setup in about 4 hours on a Saturday. After that, setting up new effects with the INIT patch was cake, and running external effects (mostly a TS-9 and Dunlop 535Q wah) was easy as well.

    Any GT8 users?

Apologies, I have not found the sysx file yet. I'm in the process of setting up a RAID1 array on my PC and I've swapped my archive disk out for now. Apology number 2...this is a long post, but is the most helpful information I can post. This is exactly what I went through to set up the unit...

SIGN THE PETITION, END THE POPPING NOISE

Yes, this is for sure not Mesa bashing. Randall Smith is a very technical guy (just read his write ups on the Mesa site). I would be happy if I could just get a technical explanation from him about why the pops are a necessary evil. I think something like that would go a long way in improving...

Local dealer tells me not to buy a Boogie!

To me, the whole "analog vs digital" debate is pointless. Both technologies yam what they yam. I loved my Boss GT-8, and I regret selling it. Was I using it with the intent that it would replace my tube amp? At first, yes, but then I realized that it was pointless...they both sound...

    Blue Jewel Light

I got mine from Ebay - it's a Fender part and it only cost me $3.

How come i can't get my Roadster to sound as rich as my MKIV

Although I'm not totally happy with the end result, I can dial in a good rhythm tone on channel 3 and a decent (key word) lead tone on channel 4. I never use modern mode though, always vintage. It take a lot of mid range to push the channel for leads though.

4 cable method with your boogie....

I had a GT-8 (sold to fund a go at pedal building and tools) and I used it with my Roadster with no problems. Setting levels is very key, as someone posted earlier. If you set it up correctly, there are no tone loss issues. Also, with the buzz problem, that can be corrected by resetting...

    crazy problem with roadster

^I get what you're saying. You mind PM'ing me your settings. I used to set up rigs, and I've set up a lot of DRs and TRs before. I know how to balance levels (a major concern when using digital effects devices), but I'm always curious to see how others have theirs set. My channels are...

    crazy problem with roadster

Wow man...sounds like you a pretty bad go at it with them. Your volume problem is odd, I have the exact opposite problem. Channels 1 and 2 are almost not even there. To match volumes, you have to max out the volume and nearly max out the gain on channels 1 and 2 to get close to the volume of...

    Blue Jewel Light

If my Roadster is any indication, any jewel light that will fit a Fender will fit a Mesa. As soon as I got the Roadster, I pulled my blue jewel off of the Fender (stacked on top of the Mesa rig) and put it on the Mesa. Side by side, the Mesa jewel and Fender jewel are exactly the same.

    crazy problem with roadster

Although I like the Roadster, I might be making the move to the Mark IV anyway, or I might go Lone Star. A different story for a different time. Anyway, I had the amp cranked for a few hours last night (my closet makes a nice isolation room) and the amp performed well without any pops. The...

    crazy problem with roadster

It's not so much a problem with Mesa as a whole, and I for one am not trashing the company. It's just sad to see a product as good as this have a major issue. If it's just something that comes with the design, then I would expect RS to change the design and try and dial out the problem. I am...

    2x12 Cabs: Stiletto vs. Roadster

TS...you asked about the Roadster 2x12 to begin with. The Roadster and Stiletto cabs are the same, but on the Mesa site they are listed with different weights (48 lbs for the Stiletto and 50 for the Roadster).

    crazy problem with roadster

I didn't get a chance to try it out last night, but maybe tonight. And you know the problem is bad when FOH guys start noticing the trend.
