GT-8, 4 cable method, and my Rectoverb

I was never able to dial out the hum when using the amp control jack. There seems to be a rather mean ground loop when this jack is used. Sad to say, but you might have to cut the ground at one end of the signal if you want to use the amp control feature (do not cut the ground on the amp...

GT-8, 4 cable method, and my Rectoverb

I haven't tried the GT-8 with any boogies with parallel loops, but on other parallel loops I know it makes the GT-8 freak out. The processing glitches a bit and the signal bleed from the parallel loop throws the timing off, so it sounds like you've got a slapback delay on at all times. Very...

    New Mesa amp rumor!!

That's not a Mark, it's some kind of mutant Road King. I would hope Mesa would keep the Mark line pure. The Mark cleans may not be as nice as the Lone Star, but it has it's own tone that is attractive to some. There's no need, and I would hope there's no demand, to have the Mark series sound...

GT-8, 4 cable method, and my Rectoverb

I wouldn't say that is the biggest worry. It's on the back of the unit and you pretty much need to use it all the time to adjust your overall level. The levels inside the unit are the set it and forget it part. Once you've got unity gain over all effects blocks in the unit, don't touch them.

GT-8, 4 cable method, and my Rectoverb

Not saying you're wrong on that, I just wanted to point out that it's not key to getting the best sound out of the unit. I just didn't want the poster to have false expectations. The key to getting good tones out of the GT-8 starts with the setup. Eliminating noise from problematic gear is...

GT-8, 4 cable method, and my Rectoverb

With the assigns on the GT-8, you can make any button do anything you want. If you wanted, you could assign the solo boost to the control footswitch, and then assign your distortion, chorus, delay and even parameter changes to trigger whenever the solo function is turned on. You can even have...

    Roadster Footswitches

I do the same thing, but I keep my footswitch in front of the board. I don't really think it gets in the way, and I've never hit a channel change by mistake before. BTW...older pic of the board. I've got a few more pieces since then and I'm building a few more to fill the gaps.

    Roadster Footswitches

I would just squeeze things together a bit more. I know you want to keep the cables lined up with the slots in the pedalboard, but when it comes to fitting everything on your board, I'd sacrifice some of that neatness to get everything on the board. If you're willing to open it up yourself...

GT-8, 4 cable method, and my Rectoverb

Here's the link to my thread on my Roadster/GT-8 setup method. http://bossgtcentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15277 To answer your questions, yes the preamps can still be used in 4cm. I don't know if it's possible, but you might be able to assign a modifier to the solo button, or at least...

Which Pedals Belong Where? Or Dont Belong Where?

It works fine for me. I'm rather OCD when it comes to setting up rigs for customers, but when it comes to my own, I learned to just let go and let it be if it sounds good. High gain or not, I don't really run into any issues with noise or other "fragments" by running my delays in front of the...

ROADSTER owners: What OD are you using?

A stock BD-2 followed by a home grown custom tube screamer.

Which Pedals Belong Where? Or Dont Belong Where?

If it helps you at all, my signal chain is as follows... BYOC Compressor Wah Boss BD-2 Custom overdrive (think Full Drive 2) Fulltone Choralflange Fulltone Deja Vibe BYOC Tremolo MXR Carbon Copy Boss DD-3 All of that goes right into the front end of my Roadster...no loop. When I feel like...

If he's been using it for shows now for a few weeks, why hasn't anyone snapped a pic of it pre-show or after?

Dual Rec - Class A Sensitivity

Nah... There are many things that are related, but distant enough to be independent. Being a guitar player is one thing, being a tone seeker is another. You don't have to be a perfect guitar player to enjoy messing with different tones. I've known many players that are simply amazing, but...

    ROADSTER + ZOOM MRS8

Not that I know of, but if you start cranking knobs, you'll likely mess up some tubes or possibly make a preamp tube or two go microphonic.

First Mark V (no, 5) photo

Well, thinking more about it, I wonder if this could be Mesa's attempt at a viral marketing campaign. Really, we're doing more advertising for the amp right now based on nothing but a photo. And really, what better advertisement pic for a Mark V (5) than a pick of Mr. Smith digging around in...

    ROADSTER + ZOOM MRS8

It's not acting as an attenuator, it's just acting as another master volume control. An attenuator soaks up power between the power amp and speaker, while anything in the effects loop is just lowering volume between the preamp and power amp. It sounds different, but it's not the same as an...

    Why an OD Pedal??

Seems there are several with this magical combination. The SD-1 and TS-9 are very similar. What is it about this combination that is so great for you guys? For me, the BD-2 is my clean boost with a little grit. The TS-9 is the fatter-maker for everything (usually used for leads because the...

    Why an OD Pedal??

The only thing I've been able to use "brit" mode for is SRV/Hendrix clean/mild grit tones. It makes the amp much brighter and it seems easier to cop that tone in brit mode than anything else.
