I don't have any extras laying about. The tubes are the same that shipped with the amp from Mesa...I would guess that they are about 2 years old.

It all depends on what's going on inside of the switching mechanism inside the GT-8. Since the jack is grounded to the GT-8 chassis, you sould be able to clip the ground in the cable and have the switching function continue working without incident. Another tip...label the cut end of the cable...
