Great to hear - did you meet Mike B?I went up today and snagged itwhew it was good to reunite with that thing. Will fire it up later tonight. The folks at Mesa are good folks, everyone I dealt with was very cool and helpful.
I never put a rush on them what is the point..is it speed or a no compromise service.I always tell em to take they're time and do a perfect job.Update: Mike emailed me to let me know he’s been sick all week - that’s why the amp never got out - he really backed up right now but my amp is done should go out this week- I never reached out to him he just wanted to give me a heads up - again great guy
Yea agree that’s what I told Mike B to not rush - I can deal with waiting but once the amp is done the process is silly- Molly is very nice about everything - and explains everything- all goodI never put a rush on them what is the point..is it speed or a no compromise service.I always tell em to take they're time and do a perfect job.
Got my Mark IV back today , I haven't fired it up yet but I am a little pissed.
Chris told me to send the tubes i used an mark them for each slot they go, so I boxed them up marked with slot position on each box and packed them up really well.
I had a NOS Mullard in V1 and a NOS RFT in V2 and a Chinese square getter in v3, the Mullard and RFT cost me close to $100 a piece and sound killer in my amp.
The pre amp tubes they sent it back with are JJ's and blank unlabled chinese (not square getters JJ's and a tungsol.
I sent Mollie an email, I did not expect Gibson/Mesa to squirrel NOS tubes on repairs.
Just got a chance to fire it up and they did fix the issues I asked them to. This is my 3rd mark IV and the R2 on this one has so much more gain than the other 2 I had. I may be able to run a pedal in front of this amp and turn the gain down on the lead channel and get a real clean/rhythm/lead channel use out of it.
I always wanted a solo boost but I may no longer need one. I'm going to have to see how it sounds at band volume.
So glad to have this back![]()
Did they find your tubes yet? Those are not easy to replace!Got my Mark IV back today , I haven't fired it up yet but I am a little pissed.

I am still waiting to hear back . Oh they found them , someone poached them, they were in Mullard and RFT boxes, I'm sure someone saw them and started droolingDid they find your tubes yet? Those are not easy to replace!
what tubes did they put in? they used a couple of JJ's and the rest unmarked (look like Chinese tubes but not the good 4th gen tones like I sent with mine)I just got my Mark IV back and they fixed it, but now it suddenly seems a little sterile and less aggressive. They replaced some caps 'n stuff and did a full retube. I'm wondering if I just need to throw the original preamp tubes back in it.
Also, don't expect an email chain to make its way to the final TODO list when Mike (or whoever) gets the amp on the bench. You have to be very specific. Some of things I asked for were ignored and never addressed.
