New Member Looking for rack ears for Studio Preamp

About the only possible solution for missing rack ears is to make them, if you have skills and access to some machine equipment, or have a machine shop fabricate them for you. There was a thread from a few years ago in which I posted an accurate drawing...

Any USA members care to help me out?

That would be awesome. Thanks. I'll PM you tomorrow as soon as I finish work.

Any USA members care to help me out?

I live in Toronto, and want to place a small order directly from MB - a logo plate and some leather cab corners and fasteners, for a total of <$100. Unfortunately, they will only ship to US addresses. Would anyone be willing to order for me and reship to me? I can pay upfront by PP, with...

Best Firewire Recording Interface for Mac

Budget would help. Metric Halo makes some fantastic interfaces specifically for Mac, but the price for a ULN-8 is rather high. I own a ULN-2 as well as a 2882, and they are fantastic. edit: And I just realized this is an old thread. Hopefully the OP will let us know what he went with and what...

    5:25 Clean channel - Isn't clean!

I had a very low serial number 5:25 and that was normal behaviour for it. I used a 5751 to try to tame it. It did work, but in the end, I (stupidly) sold it. It did not have a lot of clean headroom with all 12ax7 tubes installed.

    What's your recording setup?

Fairly simple is best for me. Any of my Mesa amps (Studio Pre and 2:95, Rectifier Recording Pre and 2:100, Stiletto Deuce); Mic or direct into Rupert Neve Portico 5032, Alternatively direct into Metric Halo ULN-2, Pro Tools & current Mac Mini Works far better than my playing skills...

    Cleaning tolex

I buy various vinyl fabrics from time to time for speaker cabinet builds, and my supplier specifically suggests Fantastik, 409 or similar products for cleaning vinyl (alcohol-based cleaners).

What kind of music are people using their Stilettos for?

Delta Blues and slide work on an electrified resonator, as well as lap steel work. Country, Blues, Jazz. It's all good.

    Anybody Roll Without OD Pedals?

I don't use an OD at the moment, although I do with my Studio Pre setup. A Wampler Super Ecstasy gives me what I want, due to the notorious difficulty of setting the knobs on the Studio Pre to sound good on both channels. With my Stiletto Deuce, I am playing a National Resolectric and a 1958...

    New 5:50

Enjoy your new 5:50. I still regret selling my original 5:25 years ago. It had a 2-digit serial #, and would have been perfect for the type of music I like to play now vs. then. There are no inherent weaknesses or QC issues.

    Rack Ears for Studio Pre

Hope this helps. I forgot on the weekend, but my long-retired mechanical engineer father drew this up this morning. It is taken from my Studio Pre, although he didn't title the drawing specifically as Studio Pre.

    Super frustrated!

It's not about what you hear onstage. It's about what it sounds like to the audience.
